Mary,
'Nautibuoy' has two redundant standard skin fittings one above other about 150mm from base of transom ( lower)joined by plastic hose .

Simplest way seems to use bottle well and fit stainless tube (close fit)with an internal fully welded base ( gas tight) as a bottle store. In my wish not to make more holes, I will use the existing lower one so Bottle container will be up to u/s of locker stiffener. It took me a while to realise that a) getting it in and b)getting the bottle out were an insurmountable prob. So am going to mount the tube (250Dia)on a flat plate which carries an off- centre to main tube spigot(75 deep) to fit snug into bottle well. This should allow bottle removal vert via locker hatch.
Drain to BS3212 (30 min fire resistance??) according to Boat safety man at Excel( metal bulkhead type connector).
Steel needs to be minimum 0.95 mm. As LPG is heavier than air I dont see why a lid is required but the surveyor will be happier if there is one! I will use a simple disc of stainless with a smaller dia 18 mm ply disc as location and a bonded rubber seal. A 'handle on the top and one each side will allow shockcord retention. I hope to get away with container being removable to allow access to interior of transom ( hydraulics - bilge pump).

Does anyone know of fitting to give watertight seal to what will be an open standard skin fitting with hose tail???

I have regulator on inside rear of locker front with rigid pipe to bulkhead to galley then flex (orange High Pressure all flex)to connect block on stbrd liner and further flex to cooker. So a flexible from bottle to bulkhead fitting at top of container side and another to the regulator.

On older boats if you only have one appliance I understand extra tap not req.as indeed flame failure devices are not req unless you are replacing appliance.
Obviously it makes good sense to turn gas on and off at bottle when req. and run appliance until line is clear. A tell tale ribbon to outside of locker lid is good idea for when gas is on.
I will prob fit new on /off tap to bottle with a gauge that indicates if there is a leak.
Dont know about alcohol for stoves- have heard its slow. Still has to be stored. My budget doesnt allow changing stoves as well as new engine this year!

Paul
