In reply to: Stephen Ryan 's message, "Re: IRC Rating" on 14/03/05 16:27:01

I've looked into it a bit further and it seems the Island Sailing Club have developed their own rating system ISCRS for the race. It's a bit simpler than applying for the IRC rating but is not widely recognized. Even so, it still asks for 'Empty Weight', 'Waterline Length' and 'Displacement' which are measurements I can't easily ascertain. So, I can't help thinking that somewhere, there's published data for the Trapper 500. perhaps even enough information to complete the IRC rating application.
Stephen, if you're interested, the basic entry requirement ISCRS is available from http://www.roundtheisland.org.uk/web/pubs/2005/ISCRS.pdf

My boat 'Bright Flyer' is based in Bursledon at the top of the Hamble. I only bought her at Christmas so I'm a bit ignorant about the class. I'm sure there is a class handicap but it seems, for racing, only an ISCRS or IRC rating is recognised for small cruisers.

So, if anyone can steer me and Stephen towards the information wherever it's hidden, we'd be enormously grateful.
