Well, to be honest, I've never lost money on any car I've sold (but then again I'm very careful about the cars I buy and I've never brought a new one !). I've also never lost money on a boat. First boat was a Javelin-30 (1979 - 1983) and I made about £1k (10%) when I sold her, second was a Trident Warrior 30 (1993 - 1997) and I made about £3k (15%), third is a Trapper 28 (1999 - ?) and to be honest, I think I expect this one to be my first real money looser ....

Unfortunately from the resale point of view, Trappers are "old fashioned", it might be nicer to say "traditional" but let's get real, in most people's eyes, they are just old fashioned boats. In my mind "old fashioned" is a positive feature when it comes to real cruising boats, it's just a shame that the majority of buyers don't seem to agree. It's probably because we now live in a society where everthing is "disposable", nothing is built to last any more because nothing has to. Nowdays, people seem to be used to buying new and anything that is not new is viewed with suspicion .......

Oh well, it's only money and when you compare possible depreciation with overall running costs, depreciation doesn't seem so significant any more !

All the above IMHO of course .......
