"2012 RACE PLANS

Spring is upon us, I am sure you all have lots of things going on at this time of year and drag racing may not be one of them, however, for some of us it seems to be late in the year already not to be racing.

I have talked at length with David, baring an absolute commitment to an 8 car field minimum and the understanding that someone besides him and Kay will do the administrative work, he is not going to be working on a 2012 race plan. I understand that, and appreciate all that he and Kay have done to provide us with a great format and a place to race, for virtually free. I am the late comer to TPSA, and remain hopeful that we can come up with a compromise on rules to rejoin the tour for 2013, but it will take some work.

I am not designating myself heir apparent, but I do want to race. So I have a couple of updates to provide to you for consideration. Working on a place to race for free is no problem, but it still does not solve the car count issue and without a hard count no track is going to pay for us to show up. we can go in a couple directions (speaking of the TPSA format) that would keep the core of the group racing together both formats would give us a place to race for free and we run for our own entry money, plus any outside money that can be drummed up.

I have spoken with Bonnie Webb about her Texas vs. The World idea, she has six races scheduled where she has rented the track, and will operate a number of index classes, on your own she would like to have us show up and race in her 4.70 index race, probably pays $1,000 to win. Four races in Evadale and one in Dallas. No need for a formal invitation just show up and race. She also would give us a lane to run our own program in, heads up TPSA style, burn out across the line tow vehicle and so on, but no money.

We could respond as a collective group, she will run us for as few as four cars in our own class.

Secondly, I have attached for your consideration a format that would open up the car count to make the spread between TPSA Pro and Extreme maybe a little closer, but also introduce some other cars that might help with count. Under this format we would use weight as the break, and invite non blown, Gas only door slammers to race with us, this would include nitrous and turbo guys of which there a bunch of them in Houston and San Antonio, the breaks are on the attachment and below;

Pro 2300
Extreme 2450
Others 3000

subject to discussion (some , not looking for a debate)

I would propose that we pick five dates, race San Antonio and Dallas, no money from the tracks just free entry. we race for fees and third party money. Plus a very simple side bet for the guy the wins the most rounds. We put in a given amount each for those wanting to race with us and at the end of the year he takes all the money.

I would arrange with the tracks the dates, each team would take a turn running the scales, so bring extra help, and we would designate a race boss for each event, he is the final word on any disputes.

We would follow the 2011 TPSA rules and race format draw names and so on.

I have some side money that would pay a little to our part, you guys that have your own business, should consider chipping in a little (100% tax deductable as an advertisement allowance) and we will pay according to the form attached. We need to be able to offer a guarantee pay out of say $2,500 to the winner to help the count.

I would like some written feedback from each of you this week even if it is no thanks. I could see us racing as soon as the first week in April. If we keep the schedule as part of the tracks weekly and not cost them anything we could stay off of ADRL, NHRA and IHRA dates so if you want to do something else you could.

take a look and let me know.

Again my most sincere thank you to the Hubbard's for all they have done to get us to this point, and I wish them a much easier year without the *** hurt of running TPSA in 2012."

we can discuss . But the thought was if we provide a heavier class they can run turbos, nitrous and non blower adders, as long as gasoline. I thought we could adjust as we go along, but start somewhere, if that proves to be too much or not enough we change. Just looking for enough cars to make a show.
