Subject: Who - and what - is this?
In reply to: Ravin---Marz 's message, "Finding clothes---ripping off clothes" on 11:55:16 01/13/02 Sun

Isobel had been dreaming again of her father -- this time of his death -- when Ravin returned to the tent with a very strange-looking person. She sat up sleepily, looking at them. The... man? woman? it was difficult to tell... was garishly dressed in what must have been a half dozen layers of clothing with gaudy accessories and a very... interesting hair style. Isobel rather admired the beads in the person's hair but it was like a wild explosion of bright color that added to the confusion over gender.

"This is Saras," Ravin explained as she gaped at the newcomer. "It seems that Saras is a genie that I've summoned here by cleaning off an old flask I found."

She nodded to Saras. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance," she said. She hoped the genie's voice would offer some clue as to its gender, but unfortunately she was left completely unenlightened as the voice was as asexual -- or unisexual -- as the body.

Saras accepted some of Ravin's clothing from him. The disappointment in the new clothing was written all over the genie's face. Isobel wondered why, then, Saras next took off its flambouyant garb and dressed itself in Ravin's dark clothing. Perhaps the being was attempting to disguise itself? If that was the case, the hair ornamentation and accoutrements it attached to Ravin's shirt would be a dead giveaway.

Isobel tried not to stare at Saras but it was nearly impossible not to. Her mind tried to categorize the genie into a gender identity and because it could not, it kept urging her to keep looking.

She could not help but stare, however, as Saras said to Ravin, “Now! After you get me some food, we can discuss your wishes.” Of course Ravin was to be granted wishes! He had found a genie, after all. She looked over at Ravin, wondering what sorts of riches he would wish for himself.

Saras then plopped down on the cushions next to her and smiled. "Your clothes are very nice!!" the genie said enthusiastically. "Much better then either Ravin here or the big guy outside!"

Isobel could not help but snort rudely. "I should hope so! The man is a disgusting pig who should be flayed alive! His smell alone could slay an entire village. I speak of Justin, of course, not Señor Ravin." She grinned at Saras. "But I thank you for the compliment." Never before in her life had her attire been the subject of so much attention!

Suddenly someting Ravin had said registered. "Did Señor Ravin say you were in a flask?" She looked at the genie in confusion. "But... genies are usually found in lamps, are they not?"

*~*~*~*~*

Barry was glad everyone was okay -- well, except maybe Tristan, who looked slightly unconscious. And the assassin berk, who looked slightly dead.

He hoped the cobra hadn't bitten the dragon guy, but he didn't think it had. When the addle-cove looked up and thanked him, he said, "Sure, Chief. Anytime."

He drifted down beside Yorik. "Good work out there, buddy. 'Specially for a cross-dresser!" He cackled and floated off toward the camp. He wondered if any of the Jann women would let him sleep in their tent....

Suddenly he stopped short. By the Powers, what in the mazes was that with Ravin? Some kind of flashy-dressed berk with funny hair. Barry rememberd having hair... or thought he did. But this guy... he had HAIR. All flappin' around beady-braidy feather filled poofy hair. Whoa. Come to think of it... he couldn't even tell if it was a guy.

He floated quickly over intending to ask the basher to clue him in on it, but he ducked into a tent with Ravin. "Ehhhh... Ravin's got some strange tastes..." Barry muttered. "Well, whatever sparks your banana..."

He caught sight of some movement at the edge of camp... was that one of the assassins? But then one of the Jann women walked by and he couldn't help it... he gazed longingly at her ample bosom and shivered. "Oh baby," he muttered. When he looked back toward where he had seen the movement, there was nothing there. Ehhhh... you're losin' it, Barry, he thought. Too much time with the addle-cove... time to find a soft chest to get cozy with.
