Author: Ravin and Marz
Subject: Taking Sarosh off to meet some of the others
In reply to: Isobel and Barry 's message, "Who - and what - is this?" on 04:44:16 01/14/02 Mon

Ravin nodded his approval of Saras' new look, mainly because the dark garments were a lot easier on the eyes. The red sash, beads, and feathers that the genie accentuated the outfit with were a bit much as far as the thief was concerned. He disliked anything flashy that would draw attention to himself, but obviously Sarosh had no such qualms. To each his own.

Judging by the look on Isobel's face, she was just as confused as he was about the genie's gender. Since Ravin didn't avert his eyes while Saras disrobed, he got a good look at the genie's body. After seeing the smooth golden torso, he decided that Sarosh was indeed male. But, when he looked up at the pretty face attached to that body, he felt confusion rearing its head again.

Deciding that it was senseless to try to figure the genie out, Ravin took a sip of ale and nearly choked when Isobel mentioned the special flask. Knowing that Sarosh wasn't happy about residing in such an ugly container, the thief changed the subject, hoping to get the genie's mind off lamps and flasks for now.

"There's a large food tent set up a few yards away," he said quickly. "Why don't we go there and you can help yourself to whatever food you have a preference for? On the way, I can introduce you to my traveling companions."

Sarosh seemed pleased with the idea and hurried out of the tent. "If you're not too tired why don't you join us?" Ravin asked, glancing at Isobel before following the genie. It was only after he was outside that he remembered the sleeping Alakbar. After asking Justin to continue keeping an eye on the tent, Ravin spotted a few of his companions sitting around one of the campfires and led Sarosh toward them.

Marz rarely had the patience to sit still for very long, but he tried his best not to fidget while Val smeared salve over his burns. He was relieved to learn that the healer didn't intend to bandage him up like a mummy again. Besides, the cool night air felt nice against his bare chest at the moment and would probably help to heal the burns faster.

When Valhorek finished, Marz mumbled his thanks then grinned at the sleeping Tristan. He probably has the right idea. They were leaving for the Sea of Salt in a few hours so a short nap seemed appropriate about now. Who knew if they'd be able to get any rest after reaching their destination. The ex-gang leader had the feeling they might be up all night searching for Queen Kazabets' branches and the Jann's throne.

Marz was about to run off to retrieve a shirt from his pack that he dropped off in a tent earlier, but put that idea on hold when Corum arrived, plopping down beside him. He grinned when his friend handed him a coin purse he had taken off the dead body of the assassin. It was about time they found some money to replace their depleting funds. His eyes widened when Corum passed him a pebble that he claimed exploded on impact. Now, that was certainly a handy little item to have on hand. As he shoved the pebble into a pocket, he noticed Tristan start to stir.

"There you are," the dragon said, after sitting up.

Marz saw his lover's eyes fall upon the burns that covered his chest and arms. He was about to assure Tristan that they were no big deal, but clamped his mouth shut and listened to what the dragon had to say instead. Although he was tempted to pull his worrisome lover into his arms and kiss his fears away, he resisted the urge. After all, he had promised not to go overboard with such closeness while they were out in public.

When Tristan mentioned the snake and fainting in the same sentence, Marz frowned. "You didn't faint, Tris." He pointed to the mark left by the assassin's dart. "You got hit, and the dart was coated with some kind of knockout poison." With a grin, he reached out to touch his lover's cheek. "Corum wanted me to give you his thanks for saving his life."

Marz held the dragon's eyes for a moment then spun around at the sound of approaching footsteps. His eyes shifted from Ravin to the beautiful woman at his side with the outlandishly colored hair. Corum returned to the campfire as well, obviously interested in meeting the newcomer.

Ravin introduced the three youths and Valhorek to Saras then went on to explain to the group how the genie had materialized from a flask. "He will be traveling with us for a time."

HE?? Marz's eyebrows shot up in surprise. There was no way in hell the genie could be a man; not with a gorgeous face like that! "Welcome aboard," he said, giving her his best smile. His dark eyes looked the genie up and down, wondering at the body hidden beneath the drab clothing. He was convinced that it would be all soft and curvy, proving that Saras was a woman. Obviously, Ravin was blind! Marz was betting that the thief would now be chastised big time by the genie for calling her a he. He cocked his head and waited for the lovely Saras to say something.
