Subject: Yes, I know that, hence my emphasis on the word SECOND. Look, for all I know the guy is a scum as you describe, but I don't see anywhere where he said anything about them "not going through" him. If he is mentoring the kid (as a good coach should do) then I see nothing wrong with him saying, "son, there may be a school that's a better fit for you, maybe you should visit some other places just to be sure."
