  • Here's a clip from when the Dukes were on top of the basketball world. This is a clip from the 1953 Holiday Tournament at Madison Square Garden. The Dukes beat BYU in this game 69-47, and moved to #2 in the UPI Poll (behind Kentucky). Later that year, they were ranked #1 in both the AP/UPI polls. The Dukes lost to #9 Holy Cross (led by Tom Heinsohn) in the NIT Finals to finish #3 in the country at 26-3. Link to YouTube Video (NT) -- Phoenix Rising, Monday, October 04, 09:57:51am
  • Thanks Phoenix. Was that El Duque smoking a cigar in the crowd? :-) (NT) -- CLK, Monday, October 04, 12:27:31pm
  • BTW, the Dukes are in white in this vidoe clip; #11 is Sihugo Green; #12 is Dick Ricketts. Both of these players had their numbers retired. (NT) -- Phoenix Rising, Monday, October 04, 03:16:19pm
