At this point I'm not following "this" diet. I'm doing a program called Body for Life which involves a strenuous excercise program. The diet recommended by BFL is to eat six meals a day, eat some protein and some carb at every meal balancing carbs and protein.
Well, some people on another board are modifying BFL and low carb and finding a balance between the two. Recognizing that you need more carbs for energy when working out this hard they up the carbs from very low to moderate and up the excercise from non existent to pretty solid every day but one in the week.
Nat, from this other board who has done this program for some time, now tells me that since I've essentially been on Atkins for over 2 years now that my body is more likely used to it, and that I could probably do close to induction level carbs and BFL with no ill effects. So I may start lowering my carbs some again and see how many I actually need with this much excercise. My objective is to lose as much fat and gain as much muscle as I can during the next 12 weeks. If I can get my energy from ketones, that is probably better than getting it from carbs. Weight lifters have a different way of looking at things than low carbers do, and I didn't want to compromise my workouts, which is why I upped the carbs. But I'm thinking that I may not have to up them quite so much now as I was thinking.
