Thin and fat are really very subjective. I remember feeling fat when I wasn't, and there are times now when I feel thin though I'm not.

What you feel inside has a lot to do not with the outside, but with the inside. Believe it or not, most people are probably not looking at you the way you think they are anyway. They are probably just glad to see you again.

Regarding abusive ex's I had one who made me feel ugly and undesirable and fat. In reality (though I didn't realize it at the time) I was still pretty cute, only a little overweight, and there were plenty of guys who found me desirable (even at a MUCH higher weight than I was then) once I dumped that gay husband of mine.

Plenty of men are so insecure that they have to tear down their woman's self esteem because in doing so they think she won't have the courage to look elsewhere. It usually works (if we let it).

Anyway you don't say how much you weigh, or how much weight you are hoping to lose so I don't know how easy or hard it is going to be for you, but you CAN do it.

I myself have lost as much as 57 pounds (right now it is about 55), and I did it eating low carb. Lately I am taking a small break from low carb, but am increasing and pushing myself to workout on a regular basis. Combine the two and you will be unstoppable.

What diet are you planning to try? Most of us here have started on Atkins. It works quickly, within two weeks you usually lose so much you are completely impressed with yourself and just can't believe how far you have come. Atkins when done right, is modified after the first two weeks, but a lot of people don't do that, and so they tend to think of Atkins as a lot more "strict" than it actually is.

In reality this diet is taylored to YOU. You eat what you can handle, trying to keep the starches and sugars out of the picture as much as possible. Once that is done the weight tends to fall off. Faster for those of us who have a lot to lose than for people who are only a little overweight.

Hang in there and give it a good solid try. You will do fine.
