Sometimes your body just needs a little time to recover from all that lost weight. It goes into shock from too sudden and too drastic a weight loss, starts thinking it is in "starvation mode" and cuts back the speed of your metabolism so as to not "die" from too much "famine" (It thinks).

So what can you do to jump start it back up again? Well there are a couple of things I can think of.

First off ask yourself how many calories a day are you eating? Add it up. Figure it out, (DON'T try and limit them, just see how many you eat on a regular basis).

Sometimes when we are on this diet awhile, we start to get bored with the foods we can eat and wind up eating less and less. If you aren't eating about 12 calories per pound that you currently weigh, you might be eating too little.

Increasing how much you eat can start you losing again (if you aren't eating enough) or decreasing (assuming you are eating too much).

First you need to know how much you are eating. Your maintenance amount of calories should be about 15 calories per pound that you weigh. If you eat less than that by at least a thousand calories, you could be "starving".

The second thing you can do is to increase your activity level. Increase your muscle to fat ratio. The best way to do that is by lifting weights. (Read my post below to Kim regarding weight lifting and excercise).

The trick to getting your body to start losing weight again is to rev up your metabolism. Excercise (increasing muscle mass) is one way to do that, eating more often is another way, and assuming you are eating too little, eating more food is a third way.

I too, have been stalled at a certain weight for quite some time, for me it has been more than a few months, more like two years of up and down dieting and unable to fall below a certain weight. Two months ago I tried the eating more (and more often) thing and started my body losing again, got down to 227.

Last month I tried working out, lifting weights and got down to 225.

It isn't a HUGE difference, but for someone who couldn't seem to drop below 232 for over two years, it was pretty encouraging.

Oh and one more thing. Eat breakfast. Don't skip that important meal. And DON't eat just before bedtime.
