My family is about to drive me nuts...well, my sister and her kids anyway. Nancy is the one that had pancreatic cancer and liver transplant. She is doing great but 2 of her 3 kids are a mess. They are twins, boy and girl, almost 28 years old. He has 3 kids under age 6, divorced 2 years ago, lost his job in January and then his house the end of January. HIs sister lost her job (has a college degree but was at a day care center) is divorced with a 2 year old. Last Saturday she was shopping with my sister, said her eyes felt funny and passed out into Nancy. Nancy couldn't catch her and she slammed into a concrete floor and gashed her head open and then had a seizure. She spent 3 days at the hospital and they ahve found no reason for it. BUT, since she had a seizure she can't drive for 6 months. So, she can't look for a job or take one she's applied for if it was offered cause she couldn't get there. She is still at my sisters and I don't think unemployment will pay enough for her to keep her appartment. Nancy isn't getting overly involved with her son and his kids and problems and it makes me mad, I know he sees the difference in how she deals with her daughter and I think it's part of his problem. He was depressed after losing his job and took pills he had for back pain and ended up in a psych ward for 48 hours a couple weeks ago. I know my sister can't financially ahndle all their problems but she also isn't out there kicking their butts either! So, I've just had a lot on my mind lately. Wow!!! Denise, you've got a lot of family problems that you're dealing with and I can surely understand why you're losing your cookies. We've had some "issues" with Kenny over the past several months but nothing like this. In fact, your life makes mine look easy. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately but doing the stairs has been a *bit* of a problem. On Thursday, even with the bath mat in the tub, I slipped and went down, dragging my left leg and foot along the inside edge of the tub. Doing this turned my foot and toes completely backwards. I didn't, thankfully, break anything but my big toe and the toe next to it are black and blue, along with the bunion area of that foot........and this is my bad ankle/foot anyway. Not walking isn't an option but boy, it's sure been painful. I was trying to protect my left wrist when this happened so by trying to keep from re-damaging my wrist, I buggered up my foot quite badly. I've asked Gerry to take me out to the back 40 and shoot me but he says no. On top of that, my older sister is back in the hospital and will have her lower leg and foot amputated on Tuesday. After her last surgery, where the doctors were attempting to give her a walkable foot, everything appeared to be going well but at her last doctor's appointment, they were debriding the wound and found bone that had turned black. Not that it makes a difference now, but if she had taken care of herself years ago, this never would have happened. But now, we have to deal with the present and look to the future and God only knows what will happen now. If and when she ever leaves the hospital, her house is a bi-level and will, and has already, caused problems for her. The whole situation is just an incredible mess. To top that all off, we're in another winter storm watch for tonight and tomorrow. We'd just gotten rid of the previous 9 inches of snow and had bare ground. It's just starting to rain now and the weather guys are calling for heavy rain but by about midnight, it should change over to snow. We're not supposed to get that much snow (about 2-4 inches) but the winds are supposed to be strong and cause blizzard conditions. We've done our running for the weekend and are now burrowed in, just waiting for the weather to happen. This winter has just seemed already to be exceptionally long and I know that right now, we're about 10 inches ahead of normal/average for our snow. Me??? I'm ready for spring. Susie's married but Bill is about as worthless a husband as you could ever find. She was going to divorce him years ago and yes, she should have. Bill's just upset that he can't sit in the family room in the basement and watch TV all day. Now he's got to spend time at the hospital and doing whatever little (and I do mean little) cleaning he might do around the house. Susie would be better off if she could eventually go home to a small apartment that's handicapped accessible and has no stairs at all. But I can't see that ever happening. Oh Jeesh! I'm sorry about your sister. That must really be something to have to deal with! (loss of limb) I hope all goes well. Yes, family can make you nuts and the drama is tiring. I'm picturing you falling and trying to not rehurt your wrist! Yikes! Buggered yourself up, eh? I fell last night and am sore in places I didn't know I had! Our sun porch is 2 steps down and my cause I had socks on (something I hate) I slipped, one foot bent too far one way, landed on one knee and scuffed it but it's the other knee (the one I had surgery on years ago) that is hurting today and my back...argh! We are supposed to get the same weather tonight and tomorrow. I didn't get to church the last 2 weeks and really wanted to go tomorrow! We'll see. We are way over our normal snow fall too. Oh, geez, Denise. I guess it's been a bad week for falls, huh. Gerry walks around the house in socks only but I can't any more. I *have* to wear my shoes because my left foot is so darn bad. But I haven't quite figured out a way to wear them in the shower yet.........LOL. But it sounds like your tumble was much worse than mine. Knee AND back, huh? That's really bad owies!! I really feel for you on the back issue. If your back hurts, everything hurts..........and it makes it hard to get up and do anything. On the old folks home issue, can you imagine what it would be like if we all were in the same place with our pets??? Our animals would outnumber the people! And that's probably a good thing.
