Subject: Sorry, Ramona. You're right and I'm wrong. I've heard of the lap band procedure and it *does* sound much easier than gastric bypass. Even though you said your insurance won't cover it, is there any chance your doctor can write your insurance company and ask for them to cover it on the basis of preventing problems now instead of dealing with the problems later? Just wondering.........?
In reply to: Ramona 's message, "Yes, I DO remember Lucy very well and I do appreciate your concern. But, she had gastric bypass and that is something I would never ever do! Lap band is entirely different, it is not major surgery, it is minor, it is reversible and no-one has died, no-one! Trust me, I have been looking into this for a few years now and I would never put myself in a dangerous position. And there really aren't any side effects to speak of. THe nad can slip, but that can be fixed or removed. You can vomit if you eat too fast without chewing. Those are the worst side effects. Please remember, it is not the gastric bypass one." on 2:14:32 pm, Mon, 01/07/08
