Subject: Maggie sure has me and Rick baffled tonight.....(msg)

From what I could tell she never left the attic way while we were gone to my Dad's....

But I went up to turn down the bed and wash my face and out she comes from the attic way and head butts my leg and cries when I ask her if she is hungry...

So, I went over and got a few pieces of her new food that I left by her bed and she ate them like there was no tomorrow, out of my hand...

So, I went and got several more pieces and again, she ate them with gusto..and purred and head butted me the whole time....

I then went into the bathroom and heard her moving around in the bedroom and there she was drinking water....

So, I came downstairs and got her dish with a little food in it and put it upstairs by the water dish....and Rick just went up and low and behold the dish was empty..so she is definitely eating and drinking water....

and when he went up there she was on the bed just like she always is....

So, talk about not having a clue as to what is going on with her....

She can be so funny, so now we are thinking that maybe she got scared by something..and is associating that with the Purina food?? Or with eating downstairs or something?? But even upstairs she wouldn't eat the Purina..so I'm pretty positive she didn't like that food....

And she does seem to really like the new Hills.....

No, Vicki I can't take her temperature..I've never done that and I don't have anything to take it with...

Yes I am still off on Wednesdays..I do have a mammo scheduled for the morning but if she isn't acting more like herself by then I'll call and hopefully get her fit in at Dr. Lee's in the afternoon.....

Thanks everyone for your help and support on this...she has got me so worried...I just love her so much..can't even imagine losing her.....

Years ago I fed SD Lite. That was way back when Iams and SD were THEE premium foods. I hated the shape of the food, little pellets that rolled all over but the cats scarfed it, no one chewed it, just swallowed! Several threw it back up too! When I changed food it took forever to get them all to eat one food but found the Royal Canin Special. It's neat cause there are four kibble shapes (mine don't seem to like the disk shape). I fed that for 8 years but then wanted to cut carbs and the company was bought out and the new people added more grain anyway. I have no clue where I was going with all that, it's bedtime! Actually you do have a point about the little pellets that rolled around..that is what the old Hills for Senior looked like and as you said, she scarfed it down usually too quickly and then threw it back up whole a lot of the times.......but as you said she loved it....The new Hills is more triangle shaped and is a bit larger, she definitely has to work to chew it and can't swallow it whole so that may help slow her down in her eating too... I took her late feeding upstairs last night and she ate it right up like there wasn't a problem in the world....then a little later I felt her jump up on the bed and settle in in her spot between my legs on my body pillow....so that was all the norm....
This morning she seemed fine...I decided to try to feed her downstairs, if she didn't come down fine, then I'd take it up to her, but she came right down and ate it up...and came back down for her second feeding...and she did use the litter box during the night...so maybe she was just under the weather and just plain hungry yesterday because she really didn't like the other food and got a little weak?? Kate, I'm SO relieved that she's eating better and seemingly back to her old self. I came down to the basement this morning with the express purpose of checking on Maggie and also Jazpurr. (Denise, is Jazpurr doing any better???) But I see that everyone beat me to the board yet again and it's only 8:45 my time. I guess it's possible that Maggie just didn't care for the food or maybe she just had a bit of a tummy upset or was feeling under the weather. We have days when we're out of sorts and I guess our cats can have those days too. For now, I agree with you.........just watch her. But boy, it's good to hear that she's better.
