Well..............<br>Maggie is at the Vet's...(thank you Sandy for talking to me the whole way down and back...sure made it an easier drive....)<bt>Maggie seemed fine this morning, as I posted below she ate and was walking around...then she walked past me and lifted her tail....here, looks like one of her anal sacs got a cyst (or too big and didn't express itself the way it should) and it abcessed and broke....she was feeling better because the pressure was off, but now she's got an opened sore back there.... -- Piggy's Pad

Thankfully Dr. Lee was able to fit her in this morning so I cancelled my mammo and off we went to the Vets.....
believe me she was not a happy camper, but she will be ok. Dr. Lee is going to lightly sedate her and clean out and flush out the wound and then we can bring her home at 4:30 with a round of antibiotics. I feel so bad for her...I just hate it that she is sick and in pain, but thank heavens they didn't want to keep her over night...I do not sleep at all when one of those two aren't here....I just worry too darn much..... Hopefully this new food may help her..it says it's high in fiber and that should help her poop be more solid and hopefully help this to not happen again...
not sure if any of you remember, but this happened to her several years ago too, but that time I caught it before it burst and Dr. Lee had to lance it then clean it out....this time it burst on it's own....she wants her stools to be solid which they are.... but maybe this new food will be better...sure hope so!!!! Kate, I know it's a bad situation but it sure was nice to talk to you, even if you had one very unhappy camper in the car with you. Oh, and let's not forget that "dead" spot. I'm glad I was around and able to help keep you calm and yes, it does make the drive seem shorter, or at least, more pleasant. Keeping my fingers crossed here that by the time Rick picks her up later, she's feeling much, much better. The book squashing can wait until next week, especially when you've got a "down in the dumps" kitty. See???? You were right.......there was something wrong. She just didn't know how to tell you. did you hear her "meow" a few times?? Usually she talks and complains and grumbles the entire way to the Vets..but today she just did a little, not sure if it was because I was talking to you and not to her or what...??
at least whlile we were in the examining room waiting for Dr. Lee she head butted me and purred like crazy while I rubbed her belly....so maybe (hopefully) she won't be too mad at me and understands it was all done for her to get her and keep her healthy and happy.... I never heard a thing. Now........if you want to hear a cat cry, scream, complain and grumble, I'll have to call you some time when we're taking either Cinnamon (that Siamese Yowl) or Joey (little Miss Prissy Pants) to the vet. Cats are odd creatures. I catch most illness's by seeing them do something abnormal or sleep somewhere they normally don't and it makes me watch them and sure enough, they are sick. We don't trust our instincts enough but we know them best! Glad you saw the cyst and she will be home and healing up. Bet it would be a hard place to apply ointment if needed! I agree with you, Denise. Cats are so different and I think it's bred into them that they have to hide illness or weakness of any kind. You know, the "predator" thing? But if you know your cat well and watch them, and yes, trust your instincts, you *know* when something just isn't quite right. And LOL about your comment about applying ointment. I know what you two mean..I've beem watchng Maggie like a hawk, now that I thnk of it, probably since Saturday maybe....sort of noticing something was wrong, but not quite sure what it was...she left food in her dish but not enough to concern me but enough to show up as "strange for Maggie" then last night was the topper..as you said Denise, she was laying in an odd spot, and acting strangely....still wasn't sure what exactly was going on, but it was obvious it was something... Yep, Dr. Lee said she would check her all over and also take her temperature. In the short look-over she gave her while I was with them she said everything (besides this problem) seemed fine....
as long as she is under she is also going to double check on her teeth...that way, if they need cleaning she can kill-two-birds-with-one-stone and not have to put her under again anytime soon....(I hope).... (NT) -- Kate, 12:02:19 pm, Wed, 07/25/07
