Baylina clambered out of the bath, feeling refreshed and ready to learn of Rome; her curiosity of the new culture intrigued her, even if it defied the life she knew. She had not seen the child�s tears, but Baylina was also not used to servants other than prisoners of war. It had been the first time since she had left the nomadic people that she had been treated as human �as a guest. Well, it did get off to a rough start, but Bay had the sense to try and understand the king.

She put on her normal clothes and then re-summoned the child, whom she knew still lingered within the shadows. Baylina was in the process of retying her leather hand guards, but she had yet to put on her cloak, meaning the curses engraved upon her body could be seen. �I need something to clean my arm with�� Bay told the child quietly, evaluating her with her rich navy eye.

Finally, she trailed her fingers along the bird design that was imprinted on her upper left arm, its black coloration standing out against her skin. Her thoughts turned to the girl and she gently asked, �What�s your name?� Bay was usually kinder to female children, since she had been training and protecting Lyra.
