What kind of stuff are you referring to? It always seemed like they had what they needed, but I didn't see anything that looked like it was a luxury item. There's also an episode where John and Olivia are talking about being poor, they comment about when John was making money. There wasn't a week that went by that they didn't put a few dollars away. I always had the impression that they weren't always poor, but it was because of the depression that they didn't have much.
