" NMMA, past and present -- Mike Popham, 12:21:29 04/26/07 Thu (12-192-31-201.cell1net.net/12.192.31.201)

The National Modified Midget Assn. was once a great organization that provided a uniform set of rules nation-wide and gave families a reason to travel to parts of the U.S. that they wouldn’t normally have gone to. Long term friendships have been forged by people that would have never met and many businesses have been built that provide a good livelihood for their owners because of the NMMA. The cars development was advanced due to people being able to get together at the various Championship races being held to see what people were doing in other parts of the U.S. To be a driver ranked in the NMMA’s top 10 was put on resumes to help drivers go on to other forms of racing. Drivers nation-wide from Larry Rice of Indiana in the late 60's to presently Brady Bacon of Oklahoma and hundreds of other drivers have advanced to national recognition after racing in the NMMA.

The NMMA was watched over by the various people that had helped create it 50 years ago. As they passed away or became disillusioned with the path it was taking, the essential pieces began falling away. To become an NMMA official was once a great honor because it meant that your peers thought you were someone that could be trusted to help advance the NMMA. After the years went by a few key ( elected and appointed ) remained in power because no one wanted the headaches of fighting against people that held their own self interest and power above everything else. There were also those that refused to listen to the warnings or see what was happening around them. Many people tried to make the necessary corrections, but were rebuked enough that they gave up.

Now, after creating a class of race car that is being produced by the thousands every year, there is no longer an organization to support it or a reason for families and friends nation-wide to get together.

The NMMA is going to have to become like the mythical Phoenix to survive. Only after it becomes consumed in its own ashes, will it be able to resurrect itself.

I have an apology to make to everyone. I guess I confussed everyone with my letter. When I was talking about the payout staying at $25, I meant that we put $25 in per car toward the purse. This payout also does not stay the same for the monthly money races. Again, I am sorry for the mess.

We still have two tracks that have affilated and can run races. With changes made at the winter meeting the NMMA can sanction part of a tracks shows.

We have a board of directors and officiers in place and will continue to operate the NMMA.

I PAID MY MEMBERSHIPS, REGION, AND CLUB ALREADY. SEEING HOW IF YOU JOIN THE NMMA YOU HAVE TO JOIN A CLUB, SO I AM OUT $140.00. I DO NOT FORSEE ANY RACES BEING RAN UNDER THE NMMA BANNER THIS YEAR. IF SO A TEMP IS MUCH CHEAPER. I BELIEVE THE NMMA SHOULD REFUND THE MONEY TO THE PEOPLE WHO WANT THERE MONEY BACK. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE A TYRANT JUST REALISTIC. IF THE NMMA HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY (30,000) MAYBE THEY SHOULD RUN A 10,000 TO WIN SHOW AT ONE OF THE SANCTIONED FACILITIES. YOU CAN MAYBE BRING SOME CLOSURE TO THE NMMA ISSUES AND HAVE THE COMMRADERY IT HAD IN THE PAST.

Insurance for what?

What type of insurance do you need for not having a place to race?

The NMMA continues to become more confusing.

How is the insurance handled? Is it some kind of blanket policyfor the entire season, or a per event policy like a pit pass?

Ya know if your gonna bash people then why don't you grow a pair a use your real name instead of mine or one that someone already uses. Don't try to play it off like someone else is doing the bashing because you haven't got any ball's whoever you are. Adam is a good guy trying to do what's in the best interest for everyone involved , regardless of who he is related too. Just for the record my name is Brent Abbott and had nothing to with the post that "brent" left on here.

We have $2,000.00 in the checking account, $10,000 in a savings account and $20,000 in a CD.

As far as financial statement from tax returns, we don't file a return since we are non-profit.

Hopefully I answered all of your questions.

Found on Maximumdirt.com

As of 04-15-07 Coles County Speedway will still be affiliated with the NMMA but as of right now will not be running any sanctioned races. Due to lack of support from the NMMA we feel that it is in the track's best interest to run non-NMMA events so that more racers will be able to come race at the track and not have to pay any extra fee's to do so because they are not member's of the NMMA. We are staying with the NMMA rules and updated rule changes as we feel this will benefit the majority of the driver's in all classes. This has always been a good track to run at and are looking forward to more driver's from around the state and Indiana making the trip to come race with us. If you have any questions just write in your reply and I will do my best to respond when I can

It's $20 to race and $15 for a pit pass. Anyone not a member of the club has to pay $5 per person at the gate to get in, but that's it. Payout's haven't been set yet, but i'm sure it is based on car count like anywhere else, (they usually have the best car count). The wing rule for the multi/outlaw class is outlined very well in the "car spec's" part of the NMMA website. It doesn't give a specific size though.

The money was only give if the tracks ran races. I think the minimum was 10 races. Don't quote me on that but it was around there. They would give $1600 per track that held so many races. So far there will be no money unless some tracks sanction some races.

For this to be done all the clubs, groups & businesses of years past that contributed $ would have to be contacted. Have they been contacted & has there been a public request for books??? Pat?? Are you doing your job?? What are you hiding? Is there any valid books on nmma side? If so post them here for all to see! Post what's in your bank account. As to all of the gossip surrounding Loretta Esworthy ~ yes she may be innocent until proven guilty but come on look at the facts she has done it before! we all know that. Lori Dover made a very good point look at all of the officers~how long has this been going on? This is just an observation and one that a few people have brought up~when ccmmra was doing well Paul Esworthy had the nicest and best stuff on his car. Yet when the track started doing not so well and cars started leaving Paul didn't have the greatest stuff anymore. Coincidence? might have been. It just seems fishy.
On another note to Steve who posted a reply to Lori Dover's post how dare you say she is casting stone's do YOU know all of the facts? if you do please fill us in! I don't know if you were ever at a track and saw Loretta in action but i was i saw her put her hands on a driver when she had no right to, i was their when she made a jr. sprint driver cry because she was yelling and screaming at him, and i was there when she told a driver to get out of the way for Paul and Mike Stirret just because they were running for points and this driver wasn't. These are just a few of the things I have witnessed from Mrs. Esworthy. My point is she has done this before, she'd do it agian. and from everything i have heard she did.

I have installed a quick release style net on the left side of the drivers head, then i read the rule that states the steering wheel is the only part of the car that can be dismantled to allow driver entry and exit, does this mean I cannot run a safety net, even though it is a quick release? this is for the jr class

" The turn around for the NMMA -- Lori Dover, 19:17:14 03/19/07 Mon (71-215-54-34.omah.qwest.net/71.215.54.34)

We have been gone from the NMMA for well over a year now, and still we communicate and hear news of this once great organization. Maybe just maybe, this “ordeal” may save the NMMA from being a total loss. We always suspected there was a SNAKE(S) in the wood pile, if you know what I mean.

Maybe now the dominos will fall and this thing can be revived and brought back to life with new ideas, new Officers and members who want to see it grow and move into the future. In my opinion, micro racing is one of the very best places for a new racer to get a start. It was a key to our son's success.

To those of you who are members, be demanding, have ALL of the Officers investigated, don't believe for one minute they didn't know about Loretta way before NOW! Demand all new Officers and Board members. You need to rinse away the silt in order for the new pure water to work. It was a great organization once and I believe it can be again, it is just sad, that this was allowed to happen. Best wishes to all NMMA members for a NEW NMMA!

Lori Dover, former NMMA member for 6 years and Mom to a 2 time NMMA National Champion.

The Mid Missouri Modified Midget Racing Association (the club behind Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex) has a long standing tradition with the NMMA. In the past, each applicant for NMMA membership was required to be a member of an NMMA affiliated club. Because of this, the organizational bylaws of the MMMMRA and SSMC commit to NMMA affiliation. The MMMMRA & SSMC have chosen to continue their affiliation with the NMMA in order to allow their membership the opportunity to stay involved with the organizational structure of the NMMA.

SweetSprings Motorsports Complex will not be sanctioning any NMMA races in 2007.

Registration is now open for the 2007 Super 600 Showdown to be held on Saturday July 7 at LANCO (Brickerville PA). The great news is that the pre-entry fee for this $10,000 to win race is only $40!! Please visit www.super600showdown.com to print out an entry form. Be sure to register early to reserve your car number. The race this year should be awesome as LANCO has added new clay to the entire track and changed the transitions of the banking slightly which should ensure 3 distinct racing grooves. This year's Showdown is also the showcase event of the inaugural 600cc Pennsylvania Speedweek. The other speedweek tracks are Hill Valley on June 30 and July 1, Path Valley on July 2, Susquehanna on July 3, and Linda's on July 6.

On a positive note for the NMMA. I wish the NMMA and all of the current/future officers and members well. I only hope that when the dust settles, that someone can fill the shoes that have been emptied. That someone can and will put the NMMA (if it continues) on a stellar course of rebuild and rebound back to being the National Organization that other tracks and organizations want to "steal" or "copy" rules and roles from. There still exists a need for equal rules Nation-wide so that the racers can go anywhere and be competetive. I know that racing at home is comfortable and competetive, but, to be able to load up the racer, go a few miles further and to be able to be on equal ground at another track is really a good way to see just how good the drivers and cars at another track, compared to "home" are. The only thing I will say about the former National Executive Secretary/Treasurer is this, how many other members or Officials have put as much of their life into the NMMA as she has? There are but a handful of Lifetime NMMA members out there that have stayed with the NMMA as long,as faithful, as concerned, and as personally as she did. Someone has some mighty "big" shoes to fill. Respectively, jc hopper.

I have read these post, and the deleted one, and feel I have to contribute. We will be new to micro racing this year after spending several seasons running karts at several different tracks. With that said, here are my opinions, agree or not.

I read this fourm about the NMMA loosing several of its last tracks, going from 1000;s of members to just a handfull at a track in Illinois. Somthing must change. The threads in this post dont make any sense to me, no I dont know these people, but somthing needs to be said. A man asked a question to the president or the vice president of the organization where he is a paid member. They should have responded, not only to him, but all its members. For a guy who is "very involved" to respond, but probably not a bord member, is not approprate. A statement should come from, at least, a board member and it should be from the President. I doesnt have to be details, just a statement about how they (the board) are looking into it.

I was convinced at a track meeting, even though we will not be sactioned, to join the NMMA. I have printed the application, but not sent it in since this has happened. There needs to be some kind of consistancy through the sport. Believe me, I dont mean to sound like I know everythig, But if every track is going to have different rules, it limits you to where you can race. I know most people are creatures of habit and race at one place anyway. We always traveled to different tracks and never had a problem because they were all "sanctioned" under the same rules.

I have read several different boards and my opinion is, this situation and nothing being said about it is just another nail in the coffin. I have also seen many different solutions batted around. Just my opinions. Flame me, delete it or what ever, But as a future member, I look for these answers also.

" Tracks & clubs To sponsor Race4life -- Wade Huisman, 11:20:43 03/15/07 Thu (74-33-159-89.br2.fod.ia.frontiernet.net/74.33.159.89)

Race4life 2007 Hoosier Tire, Smileys Racing Products & Kids Helping Kids in the race4life

With nearly 2 months left to prepare for the $35,000 A main cash purse up for grabs, Rac4life has yet again a few new Sponsors. Sweet Springs Motor Sports Complex announces today they will be sponsoring us with monetary funds & open dates for their racers to attend our Memorial Day celebrations. During their first 4 scheduled events they will be passing the helmet amongst the crowd & adding to a already generous cash donation for our charities. This is the type of support we need. Sweet Springs Motor Sports Complex is one of the finest facilities available to the 600 racer. They are confident one of their drivers will be dominating the field. With a new year of unsanctioned events anyone can once again challenge the best that Sweet Springs has to offer. They are challenging all tracks to make it possible for their drivers to prove their abilities at this Race. Joining Sweet Spring in our honorary track & club sponsors list is Pike County Speedway in IL., Wavelink Raceway in NE., Badlands Mini sprints in SD., Kam Raceway in NE., Wayne County Speedway in IL. Oriely Powri Racing series, Southern Outlaw Winged 600's, Midsouth Mini Sprint Association, Miniakota MicroSprints & Jayhusker Racing. Please encourage your tracks to allow you to race this monumental event without penalizing your season.
We are currently still looking for a sponsor to support our Kids helping kids program & match our youngsters contributions.

The RMS can enhance your race program by providing live data feeds to the announcer, racers and race fans. Everyone can spend more time enjoying the races and less them sitting
