Subject: In the book on which the film is based (an excellent read, by Edward Braithwaite), Sir falls in love with the teacher (Gillian Blanchard), and they get married. They do have to deal with a lot of prejudice though.
In reply to: Cece 's message, "Ooh, I loved To Sir with Love (I loved the song too.) There was an attraction between Sir and the young teacher, but the time might have been too early to really delve into interracial marriages. In the mid 1960s in the UK, immigration had been expanding rapidly, and there was still a lot of hostility. Remember the black kid who dad died and the kids won't actually attend the funeral? Sidney Poitier was wonderful. He did get his love in Guess who's coming to dinner." on 23:41:23 04/05/13 Fri
