I just heard that Davy Jones of The Monkees died this morning from a heart attack. I feel like a little part of my childhood died, too. I remember having every Monkees single and album. Davy Jones' picture was on my closet door in my bedroom and I just couldn't read enough about him. He was just 66 years old. That is only 10 years older than me. May God bless and watch over his family and provide comfort. Rest in peace.

- Well, I'm getting disgusted with the "hangings" of shows that are really good and then swept to the curb, basically due to the 18-49 numbers. I caught The Firm last night and I can't believe they will keep its viewers hanging. One can only hope that, if not renewed by the biggies, some other network will pick them up. An upcoming episode of Castle titled Lynchpin is guest starring Jade Carter, aka Harm's little brother. No I cant even try to spell his name. LOL

The promo pics show him holding a gun but he doesnt look like a bad guy. He does look pretty good though. LOL

Some of the acts used a lot of glitz and lighting. It was cool to watch but I didn't remember the songs. I guess that doesn't matter.

Then Paul McCartney, Adele, Tony Bennett and a few others sang and I remembered what they sang. Those performances I really enjoyed.

I guess I'm a pre-mtv person where the visual that went along with a song was my memory of where I was when the song was playing on the radio. Now, I suspect a lot of kids visualize the video instead. Does a song have to be really good if they use a really cool video?

- Same here, judi. I only tuned in to the Grammys because I wanted to see how they were going to honor/remember Whitney Houston. I only saw the beginning, though- didn't see Jennifer Hudson sing, and did Chaka Khan perform at all? I figured she might sing "I'm Every Woman" since Whitney did her own cover of Chaka's song (You can even hear Whitney saying "Chaka Khan"! at the end of the song).Other than that, I couldn't tell you how many years it's been since I've watched the Grammys. Part of me understands that she was on a destructive path and that I shouldn't be too surprised by this news, but the other part of me is in denial-guess I just want to remember the good times. - This is so sad. I loved her in The Bodyguard with Costner and her voice was absolutely beautiful. - I loved it, but I've always really liked the AU eps. I love seeing the actors playing different roles. - I liked it, but I�m not crazy about it. It was entertaining, the case was one of the more interesting ones, but to be honest, the accents and the dialogue in the AU bits turned me off a bit. - I really liked it. I love Film Noir, and I love the parodies. What I liked about this, is that the story was interpreted in Castle's head. Do you enjoy reading biography or autobiography books? Whose biography or autobiography did you find to be especially interesting or fascinating? Whose did you think would be interesting, but really wasn't?

- I don't read a lot of biographies. I did read "Upon This Rock" the life of St. Peter. I found it very interesting. But, a lot of it was questionable according to the New Testaments. - I don�t read biographies, in general. What I have read is Jim Lovell�s "Lost Moon", which Apollo 13 (with Tom Hanks) was based on, that was interesting. Another interesting read was about the first Ebola outbreak in what was then Zaire, written by one of the doctors who was there. Glenn Close�s dad, if I remember correctly. - I used to love reading biographies when I was in colllege and single- then I gave up reading for years after I had children- but now - I need the escapism of Happily Ever After fiction!! - of the ones I remember reading way back when - I remember being surprised by the biography of Catherine the Great - not what I expected - Disappointed in the biography of the duke and duchess of windsor- and very surprised by the biography of Shelly winters- boy did that woman get around!!       - you know- I honestly don't see why the realization that you have to leave the land you love couldn't have been done just as sadly with them standing on a train as it pulls out of the station - but - we all love the movie anyhow!! - and I do love the nuns when they look at the reverend mother and say I have sinned holding up the car parts- LOL.         except for maria being a novice and marrying a widower with 7 children- most of the movie was really fiction - they married before hitler and Austria united- the children were older- the eldest was a doctor when they married - she was pregnant when they left austria. he'd lost most of his money either during or just after the stock market crash- they'd been singing for a living for a while -the manager in the movie had actually been a paid border in real life ohhh - and he really was engaged to a princess before he married maria- at least that was something- LOL (NT) -- chris k, 12:00:41 02/08/12 Wed

- Yes, I did, and I thought that was an especially good episode.I'm worried though, when Beckett finds out that Castle has been with holding information and keeping her off the case of her mothers murder and her own shooting, even if he is trying to keep her safe, I have a feeling its going to go badly. - I have been enjoying Castle for what it is. A really good time on Monday night. It is, for the most part, a dramedy and I find myself not expecting a heavy handed episode. - I watched and thought it was well done and a great tribute. I did laugh that most of the speakers arent that much younger than Betty, between 70 and 80 themselves. I also give Mary Tyler Moore credit for getting up there twice, it looked like a light wind could have blown her over and I was also wondering if Carol Burnet hadnt had a stroke because she had some right facial drooping. Secondly, the "war is over, if you want it" is similar to the Hare-Krishna chanting at the end of "My Sweet Lord". Let's start with this question:

Other than DJE's "Holiday Affair", what is your favorite movie for this time of year? Do you enjoy the traditional classics or the newer holiday movies? Do you tend to watch more comedy holiday movies or drama?

- Well, I have a thing for old movies, and one of my favorite old Christmas movies is "Christmas in Connecticut" with Barbara Stanwyck. Also "White Christmas" and "Holiday Inn". Of course, none of these are overly "Christmas-y", but great movies nonetheless. - "Joyeux Noel" ("Merry Christmas") is also a fabulous Xmas movie! A French-German-English co-production, it revisits the famous and true story of the World War I soldiers who did a ceise-fire and celebrated together (opposing sides!) on Christmas Eve. Forgotten TV show -- TF, 19:35:21 11/28/11 Mon [12]
INSP has been showing Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I had totally forgotten how much I loved this show.
I went over to youtube and watched all the epsisodes. Talk about a romance. That Sully is one hot, buckskin wearing piece of hotness.

I say we need less gory crime drama's and more western romances. With men in buckskin pants that fit in all the right places.

  - Joe Lando/Sully - Looks-wise, I put him between Michael Landon ("Pa" Ingalls), and Michael W. Smith (the singer). The former's hair, the latter's features. LOL Quite a good-looking combo! And Sully's character was stellar - honesty, integrity, leadership, chivalrous. He was one of those "entire package" characters that don't come around very often anymore. Like Harm. Does anyone else use the Nook? Has anyone tried sharing (lend) books? I know Nook was the first to allow sharing - Does anyone know if you can share between Nook and Kindle?

I miss making a vacation list of books- I'd buy some, my friend would buy some and we'd swap on vacation - LOL.

- What I found said that Pan Am will be on until March, having been picked up for more episodes to a total of 14. It did not say anything about a cancellation, only a shorter season. I'm hopeful it will be back then; it has really come into its own, getting better every week, and its numbers had picked up and held pretty steadily. This is from an Ausiello article. I just wanted to say than since the end of JAG, I never have again vouch ( good term ? ) for another TV show.
Sure I still like for example watch ' Monk ' but if I miss it, it isn't a drama for me. Of course I can watch it on the website of the channel but I never think about it.
So, I find myself to don't want anymore than Mr X and Miss Y be together.

And it's sooo good to feel ' free ' ! No ' addiction ' ! And this... since years !
