John Jackson on Criminal Minds – highest rated show on Wednesday night -- Army Gal, 10:38:37 12/19/08 Fri [14]
I don’t know if it was just a coincidence or what, but John Jackson was the guest star on Criminal Minds last Wednesday. All I can say is that’s our Admiral. Go J.J. (In truth, I never watch the show, but did see it because of him. What a great actor.)

Sad News For Star Trek Fans -- Theresa, 12:21:47 12/19/08 Fri [10]
Majel Roddenberry died yesterday morning. Fans of Star Trek The Next Generation will know her as Deanna Troi's mother. She was also the voice of the Enterprise. She'll be missed.

- I am very sorry to hear this. Majel tried her best to carry on Gene's vision, trying to get his other shows on the radar. Too bad it never happened. Did anyone watch criminal minds? I thought it was the best episode ever. I think mitch pigalli (sp?) Is a great actor. I used to like him in x-files, and he reminds me of john jackson.

  - Hey Theresa. I thought the story was done so well on CC. It had me till the very end. I'd like to see more of MP. I believe this is the first time I've seen him since X-Files. I didn't recognize him until I saw his name on the credits. The episode made me think about the way I speak to my own husband. I think sometimes we are all a bit dismissive of the people around us, but it makes me so mad to see kids being rude and obnoxious to their parents. They are not equals, and not "friends."   - this is the last season I'll get the DVDs for - I won't even buy season ten - the last ep is so tarnished with all the time vukovic takes up and the way the first have of the episode was really slanted to split them up - so much dialogue could have been softer - more shipper friendly than it was cause it was written to set up the separation and then the last five minutes saved their arses. lol. I know that several of you are fans of old shows like Dr. Quinn, Moonlighting, and Remington Steele, so I thought I'd make you aware of some really great prices at Amazon.com right now.

Amazon has previously had the Moonlighting DVDs for $19.99 per season, but recently reduced the season 1 & 2 set, and the season 3 set, down to $12.49 each. Seasons 4 and 5 are still $19.99 each. Lots of extras on all of them.

The recently released Dr. Quinn complete boxed set (all 6 seasons, both movies, and lots of extras) has now been reduced to an amazing $105.99! I say "amazing" because if you were to buy all of those separately, even at the Amazon reduced prices, it would run you a total of $300!

The complete Remington Steele series is $79.99. I believe that is the price they've had for a while, but it's still a great price for great entertainment. Unlike the recent JAG DVDs, the RS DVDs have lot of extras and commentaries.

If there are other shows you're interested in, I urge you to check out Amazon's prices before you buy anywhere else. I've seen some great prices on other shows as well (Smallville for $15 per season, for example). And if you have an Amazon Prime membership, you get free second day shipping.

For those of you who are Scarecrow and Mrs. King fans, while there are STILL no official DVDs out yet (waahh!), the SMK anniversary group will be selling DVD sets again in January for $100. While I'm on the subject of TV show DVDs, has anyone heard anything about season 8 of JAG? It seems like with past seasons, when one season was released, the next one would be announced pretty soon after. I'm registered with both Amazon and www.tvshowsondvd.com to receive email alerts, and I'm starting to get concerned that I haven't heard anything about season 8 yet.

- When I was in the States in May, I got myself a book called ' If Only In My Dreams' by Wendy Markham. Oh, gosh, How I love it!!!!! It's a roman playing in two time frames. I am still convinced that somehow the author loved JAG. It made me think of Harm and Mac all the time. It was such a sweet book. A simple read, a sweet sweet theme (playing during the Xmas season) and just adorable. It even made me cry. I would definitely suggest this book, Nothing heavy just sweet and an enjoyable read. Jay Leno staying with NBC -- Trish, 16:05:05 12/09/08 Tue [26]
NBC has just cut a deal with Jay Leno to keep him with the network. They will give him the 10 o'clock hour. Beginning in the fall previous 10 pm timeslots held by the Law and Order franchise and the outgoing ER will be held by Leno.
Law and Order will move to the 9 pm timeslot beginning in the fall of 09.

MHO....dumb move by NBC. L&O is the highest rated NBC show and they give it's timeslot to Jay Leno. As well as the entire 10 pm slot for the rest of the week. The network is struggling to keep its head above water so they remove a leg and replace it with a very sad excuse for a funny bone.
Mariska and Chris are both due to re negotiate contracts this year, with Marish being the highest paid actress for a one hour drama on tv.....do you see the signs in the snow. Buh-bye dynamic duo, hello cheap replacements.
*sigh* all my favorite shows are coming to an end. Pretty soon I"ll be forced to spend time with my family. GAH!!!

- Well, considering that NBC just cut its staff for scripted shows (in an effort to be a more lean company, I guess), it makes sense. And I personally am elated about this. I LOVE Jay Leno but I hardly ever get to watch him because I *should* be in bed by then. Now I can watch him and still get to bed at a decent hour. Hopefully.     - My Own Worst Enemy on Mondays has been canceled. I forgot the exact numbers, but they are reducing the number of scripted shows from something like 33 down to something like 28. Since everyone seems to have trouble coming up with shows that last, it makes sense to have less spots to fill.       - the problem is networks won't give good shows enough time to last - I was watching a special on Family Ties - it had ho hum ratings its first year - today it would have been cancelled - but by year two it was a smash and stayed there for years.         You're so right. There have been a lot of really good, well written shows that had a lot of potential, that were cancelled after two or three eps because 4 million viewers just wasn't enough. Don't they realize it takes a while to build an audience? Most of the shows I've been obsessed over during the years, I didn't watch from the beginning. - Actually having SVU on at an earlier hour is a bad thing. It has always been prudent to put more adult content shows on past the "family" time of the evening. - I think we are supposed to believe that Izzie is experienceing flashbacks brought on by the trauma of treating the man whose heart she "stole." She had many unresolved issues with Denny's death. The way I read this ep, is that Alex's declaration that he loves her, understands her, and wants to go through everything with her, has cleared her head, so to speak, and when she walked in the OR, she was ready to say Goodbye to Denny. I absolutely love the sound of the song in the commercial "If Not For You" Its not the old George Harrison song... this is entirely different.

Did anyone see "Australia" over the weekend?? -- The Chief, 17:00:43 12/02/08 Tue [7]

Saw it Friday with a friend, and really enjoyed it. It wasn't one of the BEST movies I've ever seen (I give it a 4 out of 5 stars), but it was GORGEOUS to look at (especially Mr. Jackman!), had some good storylines going, and held your attention through the whole 2.5 hours. The little boy was the scene stealer and Hugh was the glue that held it all together.

It was DEFINITELY worth seeing in the theater - if not just for the scenery, then for seeing Hugh looking totally manly on the big screen - and it was certainly a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. You'll even learn a thing or two about Australian history on the cusp of WW2.

Anyone else?

First of all, why am I watching this? But then I'm reminded of an experience I had this past summer.

I was having a playdate with my god-son, sitting on the edge of a trampoline while he jumped. Off hand I thought that the twins weren't bouncing as much as I would have thought and, go figure, maybe those chest exercises were working.. when suddenly I noticed the child looking at me oddly. He stopped jumping and asked...I swear the four year old asked "where did you get those breasts?"

Well now. I'm usually the rough and tumble playmate so I figured he just noticed that I am female. So I told him "Well, I'm a girl and girls have breasts." He rolled his eyes and said "I know that, but where did you get THOSE breasts!" I suggested we go play on the slide.

When I got home I realized that I was wearing my new Victoria's Secret Ipex bra under my tee-shirt... Could it be? Nah.

So I tried an experiment. The next weekend when the BF came to visit I wore the same bra and tee-shirt. Got the requisite "you look good" hello kiss and nothing else. End of story? Well not quite, the next day I wore the usual harness underneath my dress. At dinner the BF just started staring at me across the table and smiling. What?? He was like, "no one would never know what you're packing under that dress!" The feminist in me would have hit him but I was laughing too hard.

On another day while I was dressing at the gym a lady asked me if "they" were real. Took me a second to figure out what she meant. I mean who would pay for flopsy and mopsy? Had to be the bra. Went out and bought a few more.

There is something about Victoria's Secret people... now I save mine for special occasions.

I loved tonight's episode! This makes two in a row that I really liked. So I guess I can forgive them for the ho-hum eps earlier this season.

I loved the two little old ladies! They were a hoot!

When Bones had on those "librarian" glasses, was Booth majorly hitting on her, or what? He looked so disappointed when she was so totally clueless. LOL

I always love it when Caroline Julian makes an appearance. She's hilarious! Even Sweets was tolerable in this ep. Loved his outfit in the beginning! LOL

At the end, when they were about to land and were running out of time, I was on the edge of my seat!

I loved the tag! I think that was one of the most perfect endings they've done. It was sweet, romantic, and funny. And they even managed to "solve" a personal "problem" they had been having. Bravo to the writers!

Incidentally, did anyone recognize Judson Mills from Walker, Texas Ranger, not to mention two different roles in two different JAG eps?

    - I was disappointed that they didn't include all those great "Couples Therapy" waiting room videos that they had online summer before last. Those were a hoot! I think there were about 6 of them. - DH is just now watching last week's Bones (he's behind on everything because the new World of Warcraft Expansion game just came out...sigh...). We were analyzing all mistakes with the military uniforms, like Jared wearing the summer dinner dress uniform, one Navy guy in the back had on a winter uniform, but not the dinner dress one, etc. I didn't notice last week, but Jared had on the wrong cover. - I loved when Bones pushed Baby Brother Booth off the bar stool and he landed on the floor. She was so great in that scene. Booth was so emotional yelling at Brennan. She felt so bad after. I hope they keep the new ZachSquint. He has been the best replacement. I just wish there was a little physical contact when Brennan was shot and right at the end when they ate the cake. - I did enjoy the episode. There seems to be alot more to know about Seeley Booth. I was a bit let down that Jared has turned out to be such a loser, I was kinda hoping we'd get to hear from the Navy(in a good way) now and again, oh well. ....Hate to say it, but this guy doesnt do a thing for the uniform. Just goes to show you how perfectly DJE was cast in the role of Harm. I loved the last scene. Though I will say, I was surprised that Bones didnt see through Jared, sooner. - Did anyone else find it interesting that Jared was a Navy officer, and that the reception he and Brennan went to was held at the White House rose garden? - They used to show the DCI Championship every year on Thanksgiving. That's the competition for Drum and Bugle Corps: non-school related marching bands that are just brass and percussion (no woodwinds). But I don't know if they still show it on TV at all. - HJ would have been too good for the role of Mic. That character and storyline was written so that we would dislike him and dislike him with Mac. The whole point was that we were supposed to see that they were wrong for each other and that she belonged with Harm. That would have been hard to accomplish with HJ in the role.
