Now actor Karl Malden has died. I loved him as Omar Bradley in Patton. Years before his enormous fame, Michael Douglas starred with Malden in the cop drama, Streets of San Francisco. Am I showing my age? Ack! I'm so old I remember when they invented the "Monday Holiday Bill" so imagine my confusion when Independence Day is being celebrated on Friday this week. What happened to the Monday observance????

Impact Part 2 was fantastic. Alex was playing with his pen........ the way he turned to Maddie and held her hand while they sat on the bench made me smile.......reminiscent of our Harm and HAE. I guess the tenderness in Harm and Alex shows us the type of actor DJE is. I love the end when 'The President' sighed in relief when Alex et al saved the world. Alright, I admit I am a pretty boring person, but that notwithstanding, I have just watched Dirty Dancing 5 times in 3 days (I know - pathetic). It did bring me to this question though. Who do you think had amazing onscreen chemistry, I mean the type of chemistry that just drew you in, no matter how much you knew better, this was larger than life and a completely plausible thing.

For my part, the one thing that I noticed is that Patrick Swayze, like my other favourite actor David James Elliot has a way of having whole conversations with his onscreen SO with just his eyes. For me I think that is part of the magic.

So for me, definately David James Elliot and Catherine Bell, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, Colin Firth and a number of leading women, particularly Jennifer Ehle and the girl from Love Actually whose name (in RL) I can never remember.

- When I heard this I was very saddened I have been watching Pitchmen on Discovery with Billy and Sully and getting to know more about Billy. We got to meet his wife and daughter and son who works with him. He was a good guy and was fun to watch sell all those products. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.   - Hiya CeCe...Billy Mays was an obnoxious (sorry but he really was) pitchman...he was most famous for OxyClean & Mighty Putty. He was loud, booming, & just overall obnoxious. I had to change everytime an infomercial with him in it came on. That being said, I do feel empathy for his family, & don't wish death upon anyone. His death seems odd, like maybe it had something to do with debris falling on his head after he was on a commercial flight that blew a tire upon landing.         It isnt unusual for someone to die of a blood clot or embolus after a flight. Sitting for long periods of time on a plane can lead to blood clots in the legs that travel to the heart or lungs. Him not feeling well before bed would also not be unusual if in fact it were a clot. By the way, I�ve got to say that this is my new favorite show. I swore I would NEVER �ship� for a couple again, but I can�t help myself! Besides, with Michael & Fi, they�ve already �been there� once before, if we could only convince Michael he wants to go there again. For those who watched Michael�s birthday episode a couple weeks ago, didn�t you get a kick out of Fi�s gift? I can absolutely see �Marine� Mac saying something just like that to Harm, LOL!

For those who don�t watch the TV series, Michael�s mother told Fi that �A relationship with Michael is like trench warfare.� When Michael opened his gift, he found an antique bayonet. When he looked questioningly at Fi, she responded back, �You mother said that a relationship with you is like trench warfare.� She then leaned in, kissed his cheek & said, �I thought you should be armed.�

So far I've enjoyed it - though I found a few little things funky and unnecessary -

I really liked DJE's performance. It was nice to see he still has it - Every once in a while - there was that Harm glimmer in his eye and it was like finding an old friend.

- I liked it, too. I turned on the first part, expecting to lose interest soon and go do something else, the way it was with Bloodsteel (which I thought was just awful). Has anyone else seen the latest Pixar movie, "Up"? I usually don't rave about animated movies, but this one is a must see, IMO. It's central theme is a wonderfully poignant love story with great messages of love, loyalty, friendship and sacrifice - along with humor and action elements for the kids. - Thanks for lisa for the plug in because its truly an UPlifting adventure...it shows Disney Pixar are billion times better than most animated films. Its very telling because UP and Star Trek continued to dominate the box office even when they're old movies. Its word of mouth about the quality. Yikes a simple post that I thought might spark a little hope re: a JAG movie has sure disintegrated!!!! Be ye supporters of Mac, Harm or a combination of both I thought this was a blip on the radar that all could celebrate and speculate about. Boy was I wrong. I thought CB gave an upbeat interview and really respected her stance on role models and her still professed love of JAG in spite of successfully moving on to another hit series. -- Jubellant, 17:21:43 06/12/09 Fri [3]
Everyone has a right to express their opinion. The enthusiasm and positive values expressed in the article IMO were heartwarming and not commonly written about in today's entertainment world. It is all about sensationalism, inuendo, bad behaviour and scandal. It is too bad this article was reduced to that level. For those who felt uplifted by this article great and for those who chose to focus on other aspects, whatever floats your boat! I choose to be heartened by the fact that there is at least an idea floating out there for a JAG movie and that idea was not gunned down by the creator who holds the keys to the JAG kingdom. And on that note, have a good weekend everybody.

I just got back from New York. My daughter and I go every year with her Theatre teacher and a group of 50! We saw "Little Mermaid" and "Shrek" on Broadway. We went to The Apollo Theater and the kids got got to go up on the stage and sing. What a thrill for them! They did that two years ago, so my daughter's teacher told her she should put return engagement at The Apollo on her resume. LOL! I was a little surprised that Claudia Joy and Emmalin were staying at the house. I guess I thought that if the Holdens owned it, it would have been on the market or sold. If it was the post housing for the post commander, they would have had to vacate for the next commander.

Pamela is such a kick. I'm glad she found a way to help Roxie save the bar.

Interesting progression of events with Denise. She seems very isolated at this point. I wonder where they are going with it. Isn't there a more concerted effort to keep gosssipy news away from people serving overseas? Furthermore, while I don't doubt that Denise could be fired for unprofessional behavior, disclosure of the actual reasons would still be a violation of her privacy, wouldn't it?

- You're correct TH that the house belongs to the base commander and CJ would not be allowed to continue living there. Since her husband is stationed in Belgium, she is no longer authorized to live in base housing without special permission from the base CO, and it certainly would not be in the house designated for him and his family. Also, NO one is allowed to leave their quarters in a dirty mess the way that unit was left. - I would think not. If they did then there wouldnt be the continuity mistakes there are on most shows. - I have heard several of the actors on Chuck say that they watch the show, but I can understand why they would. There are three different "worlds" in Chuck that do not always interact, so many of the actors are only in part of the show, and never get to see what else is going on until the show airs. Anyone else loving the passion these young people are showing for dance? I think I could be perfectly happy watching the all of the dancers that are left perform a new routine every week. Don't cut - just let them dance all summer long.

- oh dear - it's been so long since I've had small kids - and I was never an entertaining parent - I was fortunate enough to buy a house with a pool and a basketball court and we put in a swing set - I invited other kids over to play often - Do you have friends you can make play dates with? Kids are usually pretty good at entertaining themselves. My daughter and her friends would play dress up for hours. my son and his friends would play stick hockey on the driveway. - Take comfort from earlier generations. Children do not need to be "entertained" - they are marvelous good at it themselves, with a little guidance (& occasional refereeing by mom). It never occurred to us to spend $ 'entertaining' our 6 kids. They had a swingset, jump ropes, marbles (yes, they got quite competitive about it), and bikes/trikes. And regular trips to the library. - This is such a tragedy all around. First the doctor who did the procedure should be strung up by his thumbs. I can't believe that this woman has a family or friends who never said to her, "You want to do what????" when she had this procedure done. As you may have heard, Susan Boyle didn't win BGT -- she came in second. It looked to me that she was actually relieved. I wonder what will happen to her. A dance troupe called 'Diversity' won and they were truly amazing and deserved to win. SB sang her 'Dream' song -- that was disappointing, so maybe that's why she lost out. - I had thought something like To Dream the Impossible Dream from Man of LaMancha would have been a good final song for her - I wasn't really very impressed with her Cats song.   - IMO, BGT is a horribly embarrassing show. I hated it when I watched it on my last visits to the UK. It's not at all like AI (or the original Brit Pop Idol.) First of all, it compares apples to oranges, with a wide variety of acts. Second, it doesn't groom or help along, the contestants. AI is a way to get young singers, out there.
