Fanfiction has been, and still is, a large part of our JAG-verse. Many of us have been reading and writing, have enjoyed the additional entertainment that fanfiction provides. Sadly our fandom has been thinning out, with many writers no longer adding stories to the world of JAG. However, writing fanfiction can be addictive (it is to me). So is reading, being able to tap into so much raw talent once you find it (I love it!). So I am immensely curious to hear from you and discuss:

We had so many very talented writers that have disappeared by now. Dear readers, have you looked around, been able to find them writing for other fandoms? Have you followed some to whatever they write because they were good, or are you not interested when it isn't JAG?

Have you started following other fandoms because you love the shows, and have discovered a new addiction, if you will? Or was it only JAG for you, and there is less interest in fanfiction because you are no longer as involved in any other show? Do you still hunt on the internet, trying to unearth another JAG story treasure that you may not have read before?

Do any of you who hang around here write for different fandoms? Have you written for a mix of fandoms even before or has it always just been JAG?

- JAG is my one and only fandom. Don't remember how I found this on the internet but I do remember being intrigued with fan fiction. JAG is all I've read. I got "sucked" into writing through challenges. One just inspired me and then I was hooked. I still write, still wake up with a new idea, I have a folder full of unfinished things.   - Thanks usmgrad! Until not too long ago, I only read JAG as well (now I'm also hooked on Castle). I came across it when I wanted to find out the outcome after A Tangled Webb I, and I was intrigued immediately. Started writing soon after, and it was my first foray into writing anything. And the more I knew about the characters, the more ideas and plot bunnies I had. I feel like Harm and Mac still live in my head, being so familiar with their story.   - Awww, thanks for the advertisement, Shelly. :-) Glad to hear you are reading. Great analysis! I totally agree with what you said about the appeal of fanfiction. It's like the dream of the Neverending Story, a world where you can keep your favorite characters and every time you open the book, there is a new story told, another angle explored. I am often sad if I have just finished a very good book, and have to close it and there is no more. With fanfiction, there's always more!   - To answer your question about straddling fandoms, here's my take (even if I only just started in a new fandom with a mere two stories under my belt): I am not having a difficult time with switching between shows. It's like the characters have their own places in my head that don't mix. Here live Castle and Beckett, and over there live Mac and Harm. They don't mingle.     - Off the top of my head, apart from you obvs, one of my favorite JAG ff writers, Pixie, writes Bones fanfiction and I was beyond elated to discover her writing there, but unfortunately, I've moved on from the Bones fandom into Castle now...*wink, wink, nudge, nudge* do write a few multi-chapter fics for Castle, please? Thanks for answering the question - I guess that's how I operate as a reader too - and the paucity of new episodes is definitely a big drawback sometimes.       - True, Pixie has been writing across fandoms for a while. I don't read Bones fanfic though. But yeah would love to do a multi-chapter Castle piece. - I have written mostly JAG, I cant say I havent gotten any ideas for Bones, but usually when I think of a story line it is usually a cross over with JAG. Harm and Mac have inspired me most, they are the reason I started writing. I have followed Army Wives, Bones and Castle fandoms, but only as a lurker. - I love to read fanfiction. I love reading in general, though I really do not like writing. Like Shelly, I started out with the X-files, discovered JAG after that. I used to read Bones ff, but have lost interest there, and am now reading mainly Castle ff. I just find it interesting what other people come up with, different scenarios. - I read only JAG ff. I love them and feel they've really helped to flesh out so many scenes we didn't get to see and what could have happened, should have happened, and would've been BETTER to happen in the way the talented writers come up with. - I have written for 2 other shows and it wasnt too hard. I have tons of my JAG FanFic out there and I would like to finish a few things that I never got around to. I now read House, SMK, NCIS, Hart to Hart and Battlestar Galactica fics plus a few othere here and there but as much as you can find to read finding quailty like some of the old JAG writers is hard. - One other thing - Canon vs Fanon? What is real from the show and what did some writer post that has become something nearly every writter at sometime has put in a story? Plus how many twins can a woman have and why does the childrens names always end up the real people playing them, some other big character or after the parents? Cant say I am innocent but after awhile I have worked on getting as far as I can from naming the children Harm, Sara, Matt, AJ, Frank, David, Catherine, Tom or Patrica.   - There are definitely some 'established' ideas in the JAG-verse that have become so common in many stories - but are mostly fanon, were never really on the show as such. For example, Harm being a vegetarian. I think it derived from the 'meatless meatloaf' comment he made once - but just because someone eats something meatless once does not a vegetarian make. Yet in fanfiction he is made to be a vegetarian most of the time. And he is the one who is the good cook, whereas Mac supposedly can't or doesn't cook at all. - 90% of what I've written is JAG. I'm not a part of another tv show fandom, tho I have written a bit about a music artists I'm a fan of. Nothing that I would share with the wider world, but just for fun & personal enjoyment. I am still working on my "Magnum Opus" JAG fic, tho. When it's finished, maybe I'll share it on the HBX. - I read only JAG FF. I've tried reading others but never got hooked the way I did on JAG. I truly appreciate anyone who can write such wonderful stories. - I still love the H&M fanfiction - just no time to write any more these last few years. From the Treasure Seekers posts I sometimes am reminded of old favorites to reread or even one I'd never read.   - I just thought of another reason I have no spare time anymore. I discovered Netflix and a whole world of wonderful old movies that I had either forgotten or never seen to begin with. Well...

I think they they are handling this well...yes we missed the fireworks...but this is sweet and realistic in portraying the issues B & B have to work out. They really love each other, but they are bound to fight...plus Bones is hormonal....eeek.

My heart went up in my throat when they started fighting at the Royal Diner, but this is one thing that will be interesting...how they work this relationship out.

Angela and Hodgins baby is adorable...and whether Cam likes it or not, he is going to steal her heart.

What you all think??

- I didnt like it. Two adults THIS age should not be having an accidental baby. Even my 17 yr old said so. LOL The hormonal scenes were idiotic to me. You dont just blubber like that especially this far into a pregnancy. By this time your hormones have leveled out. I am pissed that we as fans didnt get to see a courtship or the culmination of all that UST. I feel cheated. I had only seen afew epes last season cause Brennan has begun to get on my nerves with herstilted dialogue....my kids call her roboBones cause she talks like a robot.   - I am hoping that is wasn't accidental and later we get that scene and more! - I�m with TF on this one. I never bought the "Brennan suddenly wants a baby" act anyway, but then they�ve pretty much destroyed her character altogether. - I'm really loving the show! They're doing something new and they're doing it very well! If the show's only draw for me, was to watch them get together than I'd feel cheated but so many shows don't get to the point where we can see the characters actually be together and work out how to have a life with each other in it. This show is going there, and I'm enjoying the journey. I'd love to see the but it doesn't take away from what I see now. - Ummm, do you want to hear me whine about it? I keep watching for glimpses of the old "Bones" (season 1-3), but they are getting fewer and farther in between. I found this weeks episode fairly disgusting, that competitive eating was just gross. I�m not interested in all the pregnancy and baby stuff. - I hesitated to do that this week, given the general negative feedback I got, last week. I cant say this was a favorite episode....at all. I too liked Finn...however, being of southern descent, I think they need to hire a coach to help this guy actually have a southern accent...instead of someone trying too hard to have a southern accent. The points made my Finn were excellent, about being judged when your accent is heard...he seems to be brilliant.   - LOL, I was just having a hard time understanding him...having never heard a genuine southern accent before, I can�t tell one from the other, but I had to really concentrate just to figure out what he was saying. English is not my mother tongue, though I usually understand it fairly well. - I don�t care for competitive eating either so that was gross. I miss that we never got the lead up to them moving in together, it still seems we missed something. I liked at the end where Bones was more human. They have to quit with making here so robotic after this many years it just seems so unrealistic. - At this point in her life, I don't think Bones should have been so clueless about sharing the ultrasound with Booth. It's like she has reverted back to season 1.       - The sex of the child wasn't going to change so it doesn't really make much of a difference. I can see how she would think that. She wouldn't think that he would mind having a girl so she'll tell him whenever it comes up. I was far more interested in knowing the sex of my daughters than Todd was. He didn't care. - I find I'm losing interest in the show. The whole episode was to gory. Bones has it's gory moments but this seemed particularly gory.   - Thanks for posting that, I think the reviewer hit the nail on the head here especially regarding Brennan. For all her faults, she used to be so smart and always caring. Now she�s being portrayed so stupid, I really can�t figure out why. In the early seasons, she used to be very likeable if you took some time to get to know her, now she just seems weird.     - You know the episode I fell in love with this show? The one in New Orleans. When She got konked on the head and Booth went down to save her cause they thought she killed the doctor guy. They went into his house and she was calling out "Graham, graham" and Booth says, "cracker". It was so hilarious. That episode first cemented the ship for me. *sigh* I miss the good old days. - I'm loving this season! I laugh at more of the episodes than I ever did before. When the victim's husband was talking about her competitive eating and Booth and Sweets thought she was a prostitute I about peed my pants laughing! I had to pause it so Colie could catch her breath! I so love this show! And last night ('Cops and Robbers') was one of their best episodes yet, in my opinion. It was exciting, a good storyline... and best of all, many sweet shipper moments! Awwww!

I am curious about your opinions though regarding the speed with which the ship currently moves along. I have been reading some spoiler boards and there are quite a few fan voices who say it's going too slow, they are not moving forward, it is getting tedious etc. Personally, I love the current speed; I think the writers and actors are doing a fantastic job! This episode had my heart racing, and not because of the drama! I haven't had this much fun watching a ship since 'Lois & Clark'! (I am not counting JAG here because while it is my favorite ship, it was a drama show with a lot less relationship-focused moments so it is not comparable). I want them to find each other eventually, but there is so much potential to show how they get there. And isn't the way they get there part of the fun?! The challenge lies in not dragging it out too long and have it become unrealistic.

Producer Andrew Marlowe has said in an interview that he already sees them as being in a relationship of sorts (to which I agree), and also that he thinks there is a lot of storytelling left once they are a couple (that gives me hope; he seems to not suscribe to the 'Moonlighting-curse myth'!) - I'm really very satisfied with the speed they are going at this point. It's pretty obvious that they care for each other and Castle's mom loves Beckett, no doubt a good sign. - IMO the ship is much richer when you get the back story and the progression. We are allowed to see the processes that Kate has to go through in order to let herself truly love and be loved the right way. We both watch the cartoons ( good term ? )since years on the TV.I also have seen the movies. (among them ' L'orange bleue 'litterally : ' the blue orange ' )

Okay. Maybe I am just a Grabby old lady like my husband says... but does anyone find those GIEGO commercials offensive? The one with mother leaves her child with the robots for daycare. The parents that eat the young girl's fish because sushi is too expensive, and the Parents who teach their 5 yr old to dunk so he can get a scholorship(sp) to college. I don't find them funny. I think it is a reflection on the "ME" generation. Are parents really that lazy, self centered and not have any compassion toward their children. Love the intrigue, surrounding Kate's second 'job' if you could call it that.

Collette broke my heart, and made me look at that time in an entirely different way. It was not quite 20 years after the end of WWII when this happened, whats that, like 1991, to us? Her pain and memories so fresh, you could feel them.

Excellent episode, excellent show.

- Well, I think we should be careful not to get too involved with this show since I read this today. Pan Am numbers dropped at about 27% with the infamous 18-49 group. However, numbers were down all around due to football which attracted 20 million people. I like Pan Am and the mystery surrounding it. I really felt for Colette and her tears were so realistic. - Love Maggie Ryans character for her spunk, and directness, I understood her zeal for Jack Kennedy, but given what I know now, I'm so glad she didnt make that plane and all she got was a wave before he boarded his plane. CASTLE - have to say I really enjoyed Castle tonight. The actor who plays Kevin Ryan did a great job. And they really surprised me in the end. the heroine can't be a professional sleuth - no cops = detectives etc. In this case she writes a food column even though she can't cook. The books have to be G/ PG rated. No gruesome murder scenes just stumbling over dead bodies.

  - I haven't had a chance to watch Pan Am yet - but if it's accurate at all I thinik it would be a great chance for the younger generation to see what it was like. - I know that others would find it offensive, but I listened to an interview that Cibrian did with Rachel Ray and he made some good points, one being that the men brought their wives to dinner for the food and entertainment, not just the ladies. - I think one of the things about TPC getting axed that really irritates me is this parents' group. Whatever takes place at 10:00 is supposed to be more adult oriented and I've seen worse at 9:00. If your 16 yr.+ older is watching it in HIS/HER room, then who's to blame? One problem we have these days is all the kids with TVs in their rooms so parents can watch what they want in the den/living room. I haven't watched all the new shows but here's what I have seen and liked:

CSI -Ted Danson reminded me of Columbo - I liked it - will try and catch CSI from time to time again

Charlies Angels -Might try to catch it again but it didn't grab me.

Person of Interest - Liked it best of all I'd seen. Will definitely watch it again.

Pan Am - on my list to catch next week.

Heart of Dixie - the only new show I'm still waiting to see.

- I did catch CSI and I hadnt watched in a long time and I really liked Ted Danson. Maybe I was just cranky or did Castle seem a little plot light last night. I was rather disappointed in the episode. Except with Alexis. I thought that arc could have been covered more deeply. - Guys, let us all remember one essential fact of network television: They build the arc in sweep months. Everything else is filler. Not that they can't do fun, worthy episodes. It's just that the eps they are doing now have to be able to fit in pretty much anywhere on the timeline of the season without being too jarring when they are run out of sequence. In fact, other than the Alexis / Ashley / Stanford angle, last night's ep could've been from anywhere - and could fit in anywhere. Maybe it was a little light, but give them a chance. - I enjoyed the ep and didn't find it dark, except for the darker lighting. Parts of the episode were fun - the headless one. - I love this show. Every episode gives us a little more of their relationship. Last night they talked about future love. I really like how you have to read between the lines but it is all right there. It isnt blatant and in your face but remember the Castle and Beckett we had the first 2 seasons. I love Lily Tomlin on there last night? She was good and seemed real. I liked that they left it where she could come back and very easily as Duckys new GF.

I love Robert Wagner as Tonys dad even though I cant stand Tony.

They seem to do a great job of picking family members for the cast and who knows who will be related to Jimmy when he gets married this season.

I REALLY think this is going to be a good show. I love the style of it, It's style reminds me of Mad Men, but its storylines arent quite so dark.

Its fast moving,funny, but there wass alot of intrigue and drama too. It seened to me to catch the hopefulness of that time, the beginnings(I mean very beginnings of independence for single women)

Maybe it was the uniforms...especially the ones the pilots wore, their covers and uniforms look alot like Navy pilots dress uniforms...sigh.

Anyone else watch?

- I watched the first part--right up until just before the plane took off. I love the music and clothes, but it didn't really grab me.   - I suppose you'll need to watch the whole episode, before you see the similarity in the storyline, but in Season 3's Defenseless, Harm's surprise and disapointment with just who Ensign Elizabeth Lane turned out to be(Naval Intelligence) This also made me think of CatMom, though I'm sure this era was a bit before her time. Between the delay because of the football game and the Yankees/Red Sox game going into extra innings, I missed most of THE GOOD WIFE premiere last night. Would someone that watched care to fill me in?

Personally, I do not like the fact that they chose to "go there" with her and Will. Is that not what we were supposed to hate Peter for? Then again, I don't write 'em, I just watch 'em.

- I started watching toward the end of last season and I've watched sporadically since the show started, I liked the idea of "The Good Wife" overcoming what a sleaze her husband was, sucess is the ultimate revenge, after all. I dont like Will's character, what I've seen of him and I dont like seeing her with him. I havent watched the premiere this season, yet, I may catch it on Xfinity.
