[> Annie Potts was wonderful. The actress who played the lead was great. I found the show to be overblown and distastful. I did not find it funny. I know it's suppose to be extreme, but it was to extreme for me. With the economy as bad as it is, people out of work looking for jobs and the homeless rate higher than it's ever been I just don't find flashing all that money around funny. I guess I am getting to be an old fuddy duddy. But, I can't believe the are taking off "The Firm" and "A Gifted Man" and putting this on. Tacky just tacky. Ok let me have it!! -- Cathy F., 00:13:25 03/05/12 Mon [1]

[> okay- I did find some of the one liners hillarious - 'she's had some work done- that's a tear down' - Maybe you have to live in Texas where people buy 500k houses to 'tear down' and build million plus mcmansions - but that one had us all laughing - as for 'hillside park' - well- inside from a local's perspective -- chris k, 07:26:22 03/05/12 Mon [1]

there are some truths -

just last week a client of mine (I sell real estate) wanted to go shopping in highland park village (The outdoor shopping center in the part of dallas hillside park is based on) - I had a heart attack because I was dressed down even for me. The next time we went for lunch a couple of days ago- I took out the good jewelry!! lol.

Highland park village has shops like Carolina Herrera (where you sit on a sofa in the middle of the showroom and they bring the clothes to you), Jimmy Choo, Christian Leboutin (and let me tell you for thousand dollar shoes I didn't find a dang thing appealing) though I did drool at Harry Winston (the jewelers you see on the oscars)

these folks have SERIOUS money. their houses are worth millions- they're the sort who spend 5k on a sofa without batting an eyelash.

it's just the way they are-

When I first moved to texas in 1985 I worked in Highland Park and for a pass time I would count how many rolls royces I'd see in a day -

but the off thing is that there's a lot more sophistication to highland park - a good part of it is VERY old money. Yes there's lots of new money with no class at all - but I suspect there's a good chunk of 'natives' who are breathing a little fire right now - lol.

[> [> we read in the local paper that the writer's brother lives in Garland Texas- it's a low rent suburb so to speak - houses start as cheaply as 50k in Garland - you could say it's just a step up from a trailer park - Watching GCB makes me think Garland wins the lottery- lol - But it most lakely makes for more entertaining TV than a weekend with Ross Perot- LOL -- chris k, 07:30:12 03/05/12 Mon [1]

I am just wondering who will watch a group of woman whose only purpose in life is to demean and criticize someone that they all went to HS. with.
I quessed that the housewife shows would be enough, but now we have these incredibly self centered women and their excessive lives.
I watched, and I will watch at least 2-3 more before I make a decision as to continue, but I was not impressed with any of it.

[> [> [> [> I am curious where they're going to go with this episode after episode - I dread when the kids start school - the public high is all about keeping up with the joneses- and the joneses in highland park have a lot !! lol - I susupect the idea is to have each episode end with the lead winning out over the 'bitch crew' - In the buckle of the bible belt wearing your christianity on your sleeve collides with owning Boobilicious- (Oy vey- reall?) - And for anyone who's a hockey fan - the boobyliscious shots were done at Hully and Mo's - the place owned by Brett Hull and Mike Modano. -- chris k, 12:51:34 03/05/12 Mon [1]

[> [> I did notice at one point Cricket was wearing a channel jacket and of course Christian Chenowith's character had on Leboutin shoes - but I have to admit - Poor Annie Pots came out of her house looking like trailer park trash all dolled up - and by the way no one at Neiman Marcus would ever say- Howdy- : ) LOL - On aggieland - yeah- but not Neiman country- : ) -- chris k, 18:33:05 03/05/12 Mon [1]

[> [> you know - I never did notice his accent - his lines were all so short- LOL - I'm not sure he ever said more than four words at a time - : ) -- chris k, 18:34:49 03/05/12 Mon [1]

[> [> [> That's all we need is another television show that makes southern people look ignorant and trashy. LOL IMO no one can fake a southern accent effectively. If you aint from the south you cant sound like you are. -- TF, 18:54:22 03/05/12 Mon [1]

[> [> [> [> the biggest problem is there's no 'one' southern accent - Folks from boston don't sound like folks from connecticut any more than folks from alabama sound like folks from Texas - and Texas especially is a HUGE state - folks from East Texas do not sound anything like folks from north texas- If there's one thing I can say about Dallas is the word yes is one syllable - East Texas? I believe yes becomes a three syllable word!! LOL -- chris k, 10:31:18 03/07/12 Wed [1]

[> [> [> [> [> Yes, I know there are lots of very different Southern accents, and I'm famililar with many of them, since I have family all over the South. The problem is that when actors try to "fake" a Southern accent, they aren't actually "doing" any accent in particular. Instead they are just doing a conglomeration of accents that amount to what someone thinks a generic Southerner sounds like, which isn't how any of us actually sound in reality. -- JAG Junkie (Ronda), 22:08:36 03/07/12 Wed [1]

[> I'm wondering in what capacity Ripp knew Amanda's dead husband. Do you suppose that Ripp was part of the ponzi scheme or was taken in by investing in the ponzi scheme. I think there has to be a connection there somewhere. -- Lee - Anyone else wonder the same thing?, 12:27:31 03/06/12 Tue [1]

[> Just finished watching Ep 1 online. It wasn't as bad as I hought it would be -- actually quite entertaining and I'm intrigued. I don't think I would keep watching, though, if DJE wasn't in it. He was suprisingly good -- I thought he did the accent decently! He looks great and he's still extremely watchable! For his sake, I hope his character evolves and the show's a hit! -- mj, 15:07:45 03/06/12 Tue [1]

[> [> I don't know about advertising anywhere else but the Dallas area was BOMBARDED with advertising - the newspaper had it in truckloads- the sunday paper came wrapped in a bag bright with christian chenowith and diamond GCB. articles about where it was filmed. commercials for the first ep were on every five seconds- LOL - It's either going to really attrract the dallas market curious to see what's going on or it's going to really tick off a lot of people- LOL Either way- I'd love to see more of DJE at least this series I could watch the last one was not my cup of tea. -- chris k, 10:35:53 03/07/12 Wed [1]

[> [> [> The funny thins is...they moved production to California for any further episodes. They only filmed the pilot in Dallas. According to CDs in our area, there are no plans to film in Dallas. -- TF, 21:14:19 03/07/12 Wed [1]

[ Edit | View ]

[> [> [> [> yeah- they announced that early on that the cost of filming in Dallas was too high - no wonder - they actors (save 1) stayed at the Ritz. - They'll probably show the fronts of the houses with no people like they did back and forth - the same way the same two people walked in and out of JAG headquarters for 11 years. LOL - -- chris k, 22:53:05 03/08/12 Thu [1]
