Anyone watch Bones last night? What did you think of what Zach revealed to Sweets before he got him back in to the "Looney Bin"? Do you think it was part of the story line from the start? Or do you think they are responding to the fan's response to Zach's departure?

- I did, and I was pleased about Zach, though I, too, wonder if his 'revelation' wasnt more in reaction to the fans strong feelings against writing him out of the show. ALTHOUGH I seem to remember that in interviews with E and ET, he said that Zach was in the explosion, but he would be 'around' or words to that effect. Who knows... - I didn't like what they did to Zack, and I don't feel I could feel right about him again, regardless. Something to do with canabalism, ya know? I agree with Carrotts. There is something just a bit too weird, the way everyone loves Zack, as if he were a cute, odd kid. I find the whole Zack as a sacred cow, a bit creepy. Lincoln Biopic -- Paris, 01:26:17 09/24/08 Wed [11]
Maybe some of you are aware of the Lincoln movie helmed by Steven Spielberg. Do you plan to watch this?
What do you think of Liam Neeson as Lincoln?
Mary Todd Lincoln has no official actress yet...they have Sally Field attached to it but no confirmation about it.

I hope they get this right.....Im willing to give Neeson a chance....I love his work with Spielberg on 'Schindler's List'.

Many people are up in arms about this because Neeson is not an American likewise with the storm when Kirsten Dunst was cast as Marie Antoinette when she's American and not French...Anne Hathaway as Jane Austen when she's no English woman...Cruise in Valkyrie playing a German Colonel...Shirley McClaine as Coco Chanel....and the list goes on.

Did anyone see Intolerable Cruelty? -- JAG Junkie (Ronda), 23:02:53 09/23/08 Tue [4]

I just rented "Intolerable Cruelty" from Netflix. It's a silly Coen Brothers movie starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney. Problem was, the DVD was terribly scratched and wouldn't play in certain parts. I cleaned the disc twice, but it didn't help. There were two short scenes I just couldn't get it to play through. No big deal, they didn't seem to be important scenes anyway. But, I couldn't get the ending to play! The disc froze up and skipped to the Digital Compression screen AFTER the credits, where rewind is not an option. And the last scene selection in the menu was the scene that froze up, so I couldn't start at the ending credits and rewind. Bottom line is, I tried everything to no avail.

I'm reporting the disc as damaged, but I don't want to waste time renting it again (even though it won't cost extra) because I have over 70 movies in my queue, and I didn't really care for the movie anyway. I'm ready to move on to the next movie in my list.

Soooo, did anyone see this movie and can you tell me how it ended? My disc stopped at the scene where they are in whatshisname's office getting ready to begin the divorce discussions and he reminds her that this was the place they met. Then the disc freezes! Arggh! So what happened?

I never had any intention of seeing this movie, and just passed it off as a comic book hero genre I'm not particularly interested in.

Well I was wrong, wrong, wrong. This weekend I went to see the movie at the IMAX theatre at
Seattle's Space Center, and OH WOW!! What a fantastic movie. I was gobsmacked by the IMAX effects, of course. OMG! Amazing!

But apart from that, the movie was well done on so many levels. As a morality play, it had its nuances despite the powerful violence level. It was, of course, about the constant conflict of good v evil, chaos v order, madness v sanity. But it showed men and woman, not just as polar opposites, but as human beings, who live, love, and have to make difficult ethical decisions every day.

And if Heath Ledger doesn't get a postumous Oscar for his perfomance as the Joker, I will be very surprised. What a wonderful piece of acting, (and how tragic this talented young actor's life came to an end so early.) HL played the Joker as a maniacal clown, paradoxically letting the human being, albeit wrecked beyond redemption, show through.

Apparently, this movie is great in an ordinary theatre, but if you get the chance to see it on IMAX, there are extra scenes that will blow you away.

Total 10 digits way up. Loved it.

- Hey Cece - I haven't seen this yet (although I intend to!). Last year when I was on course, most of my Flight Class went to see some movie and they played the trailer for this film - I swear, HL had only one short clip in it but based on those few short seconds, I remember turning to the guy next to me and saying "Wow - who the hell is that playing the Joker?!" His performanced just grabbed you immediately. I remember at the time we all thought it might have been Robert Downey Jr LOL. I never would have guessed HL in a million years.   - I don't think there is such a thing as "the greatest movie/actor/play/book/song/group/dancer/opera etc" of all time. I am not looking at TDK in comparison to anything--just on its own merits.   - You're not looney. You gave good reasons for not loving the movie. Would I have felt the same without the gobsmacking IMAX effects? Probably not so much. It's not the kind of story I'll dwell on at all, but the whole effect had a tangible physicality that added to the experience. - Thanks Cece..Im glad you brought this up after so much hype and box office power of this film. I agree its a different experience in IMAX and Ledger was indeed spellbinding. If he wins he will be the 1st posthumously since Peter Finch in Network(1976)...Im a Batman fan since I was 12. I confess I saw all the films at the WB private screenings in Burbank and even met the voices of the anime series. - Yes its a very good sequel and totally raised the bar for the franchise. Ledger was a terrific joker but Im doubtful if he's a lock for the Oscars. If he gets its cool by me but I will be disheartened by it. As a whole Ive never been happy with the Oscars anymore anyway and their ratings have been getting worst and worst same with the Emmys. This year I read was the lowest rating for the Emmys.   - I think Greta from Fox News said it best about the Batlash. The barrage of how great the movie is and Ledger needs an Oscar,how this movie is perfect affected many.   - Well I have to say that my viewing was that of a comic-book outsider. I did see Superman many years ago, and loved the movie score because my fitness class instructor used it...lol.       - I must add some TDK fans are really reaching when I even think To Kill a Mockingbird is better than Batman and Gregory Peck would have been a perfect Batman. Since Paris is so into the military even mini HBO series Band of Brothers is better than TDK. I know TDK is close to beating Titanic but even I admit was not among the greatest film that I've seen.To pick Titanic vs The Dark Knight I have other films that I enjoyed more and deserves the greatest movie of all time title.   - I have a feeling that CB will be leaving the show. I don't think that she and Frank will be able to reconcile because he won't be able to accept her changes and she won't be able to go back to the way she was, and she shouldn't. You can appreciate the struggles and joy of being married to a soldier and I like the bond of women though they live separate and different lives. Going to the Metropolitan Opera in the movie theater. If you thought some plot lines in JAG were a bit farfetched, try opera! One has to suspend belief for some of these stories, but they are timeless looks at human character and include beautiful music. (Inside) -- CorinneH, 17:37:34 09/23/08 Tue [7]
At friends' urging, I did attend the Opening Night Gala of the Metropolitan Opera at a Regal theater in my area. For $22 I was able to sit in comfortable seating (and have my own snacks or theater popcorn and soft drinks if I wished) and watch the show unfold. Last night featured Renee Fleming singing from three of her favorite roles. Normally the performance will be on Saturday, and there are ten performances scheduled this year. But tickets go fast, so if they are available at a "theater near you" buy yours now, get to the theater early and stand in line a bit, then sit back and enjoy on the day of the performance. The wonderful thing is that the narrator/interviewer takes you backstage so you can see as the crews change the set; listen to interviews with the performers; hear from other people involved in the production, etc. It is just fabulous. Even if you're not sure you would like opera, I recommend gathering a group of friends and giving this a try.

As I'm not too interested in most shows these days (except Bones!), if I'm in the mood to watch TV, I'll often watch old CSI episodes on Spike. Well, I caught two old eps tonight back to back (both from 2004). The first one had not only Tracey Needham in it (as a mother who's house was arsoned), but also Larry Poindexter as the fire marshall who investigated! Then, the very next ep had Stephen Culp in it! LOL Incidentally, I've caught two in the last month or so that had Keeter in them as a small town Sherriff. One was from 2005 - all I could think of was if he was still acting in 2005, why didn't they bring him back for the JAG finale?!
(BTW - I know 'arsoned' isn't a word, but I decided to invent it as it succinctly paraphrased what I wanted to say in a way that I felt everyone would understand. Because "... as a woman who's house had been set on fire" seemed way to wordy, but now that I've had to explain it, I guess it's much wordier now than that would have been...)
... I'm also thinking I shouldn't have had those two cups of coffee after supper... ;0)

OK. I'll start this week. Did anyone else immediately think of Mac and Jingo when Bones was talking about adopting Ripley?

I love the last scene! Sigh! One of the things I love about this show is you can always count on a sweet little scene between the two leads at the end. (Scarecrow and Mrs King always did that, but I digress...) I sure wish we could have had that with JAG. Oh well.

I liked this grad student a lot better than last week's annoying person. And Sweets didn't bother me as much this week either. I loved the discussion he had with Booth about Parker and the large girl.

I don't know if everyone saw the exact same commercials, but toward the end there was a commercial by American Animal Rescue or something like that. Very appropriate--it made me cry! I half expected to see some sad statistics about animal abuse at the end of the show.

Personally, after last week's dud of a show, this ep gives me hope. Now if they'll just hurry up and fix Angela and Hodgins...

- Oh yes! What a good episode. House is such a damaged character, but I love to see him try to discover the humanity that is inside him. House is not a psychopath or a sociopath, as he does have a conscience and doesn't set out to do damage to people. But part of him is frozen. I love the complex nature of this fascinating character. Hard to believe, I know.

However has anyone seen Robin Hood starring Jonas Armstrong? This version is a British TV series that airs on BBC America here in the states. They are currently between seasons 2 and 3. Season 3 should begin airing January 09, I believe.

The show itself is billed as a family drama, so there is no cursing, no blood, & no sexual references, displays, or nudity. Although in season 2, Lady Marian has worn more revealing clothing. It is somewhat spoofish at times, and sometimes references contemporary music, events, etc.

I've been downloading the eps via iTunes, although it is also available on DVD. I have been on a Robin Hood marathon, and noted more than once how much Robin resembled our contemporary American hero, Harm: His quest for justice and doing the right thing no matter the cost. His respect for women, whether they be rich (Marian), or poor (the hard working peasant women in Nottingham and surrounding towns), or the one who joins his gang (Djaq [Jack]) after he rescues her from the sheriff's evil plans. He never kills unless he has to.

Unlike Harm, he's not as reticent about showing his tender side to the woman he loves.

Anyone else seen this show?

I came across a JAG fanfic story of Tracy Mallon�s that I�d never read before. I know we have the HBX for fanfiction, but that�s to post stories, not to recommend or discuss them.

Anyway, this story of Tracy�s is about Mic & Renee. I�m not sure what possessed me read it, maybe it was the title: �Moving On to a New Love.� And if you knew how & felt about the characters of Mic & Renee, you would know this was a long shot to get me to read this story. I never really cared for either character on the show, but this story is beautifully written, & I really, really liked this Mic & Renee. Harm & Mac are barely mentioned, and H&M are both written not nearly so perfect, but probably closer to the truth. It was the character of Mic & Renee that I found fascinating. Renee is written closer to the character we came to know further into the show, not the �Video Princess� we all like to joke about. And Mic, I actually really liked this Mic!

So, if you�re looking for a story that you might not have considered before, give it a try. It�s very, very good! I will mention that the usual Tracy Mallon sex scenes are included, and while H&M are okay, Mic & Renee�well yuck, I glossed over that part. And the word �glossed� isn�t meant as a pun, LOL!

- I liked this ep much better than last week`s, although I still miss the older episodes with more focus on the acutal crime and less drama around it. That said, I thought the whole guy issue was very Bones. Just watched Army Wives from Sunday and I couldn't help but chuckle - and it wasn't right I know, but I did, - when Denise was asked about the guy she kissed from the hospital and she said 'he died'. Couldn't help but think about her boyfriends on JAG "all dead or wish they were" and it's happening again!!!! - I wonder if one of two things will happen. Either Jeremy will get injured in Iraq and be shipped back to the hospital and his parents will bond again at his bedside. Or Frank will get injured and Denise will care for him in the hospital and will bond again with him this way.         If you look above, I specifically said that the kiss & degree of involvement was wrong. However, I don't think their friendship was wrong. Maybe the fact that I work in a hospital setting & have/had many male friends colors my perspective. When she allowed it progress behind simple friendship, she was definitely in dangerous waters.         I think Denise truly thought she had a handle on it. There is still a lot of flirtation that occurs in the workplace in spite of the caveats and most of the time it goes nowhere except when someone's marriage is in a fragile or transitional stage. - I think the actors are doing an excellent job in showing us what happens when a long term marriage desentigrates. Frank has been an irritation to me since the get go. I even yelled at the TV a couple of times(well, more than that) All that said, Frank is hurting(As BT said, he just doesnt understand, and I dont think he will.) and this is definitely going to adversely affect Jeremy.I've made it clear he bugs me, but I dont like to see anyones family fall apart. 20 years is nothing to sneeze at.   - I think the writing and acting are excellent. Look at the emotion and rancor of these posts. We are being exposed to a horrible situation, a horrible nightmare that no one can awake. I loved Alias (watched the whole series in about 3 weeks via DVD, love to do that with shows that have long story arcs); stopped watching Lost about halfway thru S2 'cause it got too weird for me to hold my interest/belief (hey, suspension of belief can only go so far in my universe). But Alias and the Lost phenon made me want to check out this new JJ Abrams effort.

Did anyone else here watch it? If so, what did you think? I've got my own opinions but would like to hear others' first. I don't want to encourage or discourage folks from saying how they felt about it based on my post. So please, if you have an opinion, post it here.

My photographer is doing a DVD of my son's 6 month and 9 month old photos and I need 2 songs to use. They need fit the baby pics of course and not be too short. The longer the song, the more pics I get.

Music has been the last thing on my mind for the past 10 months and I find I can't think of many songs to use so any suggestions would be great. I like a wide variety of styles of music so throw anything out there. The 9 month pics are mostly of him playing so something fun would be appropriate.

Oh, and I only have until Wed. to get this as part of a special she is running.

- Jackson Browne's 'The Only Child' is a very good song, its serious, its a fathers wish for his son through out his life, its really sweet. I used it for a slide show, its on Hope's Home page.
