We discontinued our Sky subscription (which still airs JAG, which I DO miss, but it wasn't worth the price of the subscription! lol) and now have BT Vision which has limited shows -- we just don't watch much TV although I LOVE the Danish 'The Killing' and 'Vera' and 'Sherlock', but I just don't watch TV like I used to. Writers say they will not skip time, but will show the 'morning after' and the relationship at work. They said it will be 'fun'. FUN. DPB should be ashamed of himself. Like everyone else, I was OMGGGGGG'd at the end. It was so great. And what DB didn't realize is that when you put them together, it keeps the show fresh. I remember on JAG, one season ending with a 'look' and how that's what we had to survive the summer with on the boards. How ridiculous was that. That's why I fell off the shipper boat, because there were eps where they barely acknowledged each other, let alone acted like they cared.

I don't normally watch castle- although I love susan sullivan - After JAG I pretty much had it with the will they won't they crime fighting duos- lol- But - I did happen to catch last nights episode because a houseguest was watching it- While I was reading a book at the same time as the last few minutes- I did notice I'll be darned they didn't walk away- After all the comments y'all have made- maybe I'll watch next season. I couldn’t develop the same passion that I had with H&M for this show but it’s still great to see that they took the plunge instead of dragging it out. Smart move and the scene was great! How could Castle abandon Beckett and let her face the danger herself because he thought she doesn’t love him the way he loves her? I was hoping that he would back her up once he realized that he couldn’t talk her into changing her mind about the investigation but he gave up! He didn’t try to help her. He went to the scene only because of the call and it could be too late. Maybe he was protecting himself from more hurt but this is life and death situation. How would he feel if she died while he sat on the side line? I would like see that he had the “die trying” attitude because of his love and was willing to help her no matter what.

I think it was because she was hell bent on putting herself in a deadly enterprise and he would not be able to save her. He'd always had her back, but in this instance, he would be encouraging her to continue and that would have got her killed for sure. At this point, she thought he'd betrayed her by working the case behind her back. She was being stupidly reckless, and putting the other cop in danger too. She was reckless because she was obsessed (sounds familiar?) but I understand why she would not give up. Castle should know that too. It makes sense. She told him clearly that he didn't get to interfere with her life, and she told him essentially, that loving her didn't give him that right. He had no choice but to back off. To do otherwise would have been patronizing. As you said, she had to find out for herself what was important to her. She was wrong, and she owned it. He is supportive but knew this was a suicide mission she would not have gotten justice just killed. He could not watch that and was not capable of stopping them. I wish someone would have said this is not what her mother would have wanted for her. She would not want her daughter to obsess to the point of being reckless and not caring if she dies. Harm was a larger than life hero but in this case, I was thinking more about Mac supporting Harm who was the obsessed and reckless one. Cece is right, I need to remember Castle is a writer and he is not in the military or law enforcement field. I can’t compare them to H or M. Castle can’t expect her to give up the quest for truth or shy away from danger, nor can he put her in a bubble or run away so as to protect himself from the pain to see her get hurt when those bad guys go after her. I hope he can use his brain to outsmart the villains or to help her to see other options to minimize the risk without giving up the fight totally.

I watched the ep again. Castle kept her safe for a year. He was given an ultimatum: make her stop investigating or they will kill her. (Inside) -- Cece, 12:19:42 05/09/12 Wed [1]
Castle did everything he could to stop her, including telling her why she had survived the year. In the face of direct evidence, Kate still made the choice of plowing right into danger. She got one cop suspended (and nearly killed), because she acted irrationally and went in without backup. The other cop was made to feel bad he wouldn't go in on the scheme. Only by going against Beckett, did he save her life.
Castle could not support her dangerous actions, as now that she knew the truth, she was still not going to stop. Even when she was at the cop's funeral the year before, they almost succeeded in killing her. With all those cops around, Castle couldn't stop that bullet, but he dealt with the bad guys for a whole year to do the only thing he could to protect her. Beckett, with full knowledge, rejected his attempts. She angrilly declared that he had no business interfering with her life. She made that crystal clear, and he finally walked away. (She was wrong, which is why she repeated apologised.)
Now about Harm being the big hero. He was a hero, but he did not like "cowboys". I can't remember exactly what he said to the young hotshot pilot who took unnecessary risks, but it was something about him putting people in danger with his arrogance. Also, although Harm tried to stop Mac from going on that mission with Webb, he didn't go with her. It was only when she was missing, he went looking for her. (We have to remember, these women are professionals, adept at the use of weapons and self-protection.)
Kate wasn't acting as a police woman. She was on a personal, dangerous, quest, and, because she was not thinking straight, she willingly and knowingly put her own colleagues at risk. Harm would not have gone along with that, and neither did Castle. In the end, Castle felt he had lost her to a foolish, dangerous obsession. Fortunately for us, this isn't JAG. We sidn't have to watch Kate have a horrible relationship with a Webb-like character, and we didn't have to watch two people in love, act as cold as ice for the next two years. We got a fabulous scene of remorse, acceptance, passion, and true, wonderful love. Sigh.

Kate wanted the truth because it was personal to her but she was willing to put aside the investigation for a year even when she didn’t know that Castle made the deal for her. She just couldn’t step away when the leads from the murder investigation fell onto her lap again. I would be disappointed if she just let the murderer go because of concern of own safety but she should have a better plan and backup in going after the bad guy. My preference and character/relationship idealization really don’t matter as long as she accepted him and loved him enough to go to him. We do know danger will follow her and this threat will come up again. Hopefully, they will be able to deal with the conflict better since their love is out in open and they are a couple now. We are lucky that the writers chose to put them together instead of waiting till the series finale.

After watching the kissing scene more than once (I won't say how many times), it seems like something was cut out of the middle. There is one place where she goes to kiss him and their faces are oh-so-close and then it cuts to a different angle where their faces are far apart and her finger is on his mouth. Maybe it was edited down for time constraints? If so, I rrreeeaaalllyyy hope there will be an extended kissing scene on the DVDs (like they did with the Bones mistletoe kiss).
