Author: adc [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 20:03:31 11/21/11 Mon I heard several County Council members want to vote Tues night to change the ordinance on the unanimous vote required to spend the Riverboat Savings account money. They want to do this to spend it for the jail expansion. The purpose of the unanimous vote enacted in the 1990s was to assure that the money was spent on capital projects that the county taxpayer's reps would all agree on. It was to force consensus. It shouldn't be changed unless the vote to change is unanimous. It also should not be changed with the heat of a decision (jail expansion) being asked for right afterwards.
