The grant amount of $810,000 is listed on PAWS tax return as grants. I understood it was foundation $$. More power to them no matter what the source, this is a huge accomplishment of fund gathering.
The facility is very nice. I have always given a lot to the shelters, but PAWS seems to get by with events, while other causes are flailing.
I am disappointed that public is not allowed to visit a lot of the animals in the shelter, but only the ones they choose to show in the fancier area.
The "County Animal Control" section in the garage has no access for the public, no windows and is full of animals who may go unseen but for brief periods.
Even though these animals may not yet be adoptable if ever (for various reasons- quarantine, etc), I used to love visiting all of them at the old shelter, instead of so many of them "off limits" to the public. You never know when you might meet that special pet waiting for you, even if not yet available. There are more animals in the back room and we will really miss visiting them. It's more like a pet shop now with many animals un viewable. Wish they would reconsider that policy.
Yes, we all realize Animal control is a County function.
