Subject: Have always felt that the Irelands are more difficult due to the numbers. But, on another note I have felt there are less bizarre marks as well in that the winner of the worlds can be afforded such enourmus political pull cause its the 'big one'. More often than not, I feel the top 3 at the Irelands are right on but same can't be said for the worlds. more...
In reply to: curious to veiws on this 's message, "Is it possible that the All Ireland's are becoming more difficult then the worlds. Reason I'm wondering is that everyone has to qualify for the worlds, so it is a limited number of dancers from each region/country who get entered. With the AI's provided you are up to a certain standard, ie: regular placer at most feis through the year, you can enter the AI. I noticed a few names on the AI results list who I don't think qualified for the worlds this year. I am presuming that most if not all the world qualifiers danced at A I's, so put with the number of dancers who maybe should have qualified it would make it not only a bigger comp, but just maybe a more truely reflective one of dancers standards." on Sat, Mar 03 2007, 5:30:39

I can think of a number of dancers who were essentially locked out of 1st place due to the fact that they danced with the kids of TCRG's. One of my favourite dancers of all times could win most anything but the worlds including the Irelands, GB's etc and sadly she has since retired without a world title. But the two girls who traded back and forth for first have won many times over!

[> [> Agree All-Irelands are much harder than the worlds. You only have to see in some tough regions that great dancers have not qualified and in other smaller regions lesser (no offence intended) dancers have qualified due to less top dancers in that region. Look at some of the dancers who have qualified to see this is true. -- imho, Sat, Mar 03 2007, 18:50:45 [1]
