The Italian submarine fleet of WWII consisted of 172 subs, of which 110 were lost with 3,145 dead. They were responsible for sinking 132 Merchant ships and 18 naval vessels.

The Japanese fleet consisted of around 174 various types of subs of which 128 were lost. They sank 184 Merchant ships.
