Subject: I just bought a couple of pair ar Burlington Coat Factory for my DS. Flat front and nice fabric with partial silky lining. Brand name Bertolli or something that starts with a B? They also carry Liz Claiborne, but they have cuffs at bottom and tend to be a bit wider at bottom once cuffs are let down.

If son is self consciecne about it, maybe you could buy a couple of pairs and let him try on at home. Know Burlington is a stinker about returns, but maybe JC Penneys.
