| Where to begin.. when my daughter was her titleholder she was very difficult. Demanded that she choose her wardrobe, and made me pay for everything even though my daughter and I did not like any of the clothes she chose. When it came time to pay out her scholarship she refused because she said my daughter hadn't returned some earrings that she had borrowed from Lovena. | If you have a problem with Lovena (or anyone else in the pageant world), it's probably best to take it up with her in person. Just the rules of being a decent human being. | My advice.. run. My daughters idolized this woman, and after seeing all that I have I have had very tough conversations with them about what is and isn't appropriate for adults to discuss with children. Her Facebook alone makes me question her judgement. There are plenty of other coaches/directors in Illinois who you would be better off working with. She isn't worth all of the drama. | My biggest problem, is that even after I have asked her multiple times to stop contacting my daughter she doesn't stop. She reaches out to her on her phone, through Facebook, and has even asked others what my daughters problem is with her. As a 40 something year old woman you should not be harassing a child! | Anne Smith here...just got a text from a friend to look at the voyboard. Havent been on here for years, but from reading these entries, I can see why Lovena would think theses comments are mine. They are not, but I can see that people are saying exactly what I did! My days of pageant comments ended with the removal of the biggest problem: IL director. Figured Lovena would eventually self-distruct! I have to say though, out of sheer curiosity, I am curious who some of you posters are, like the one who watched Lovena help alienate our daughter from us. | Former Board Member alerted to this post... This is not true. Miss Chicago people were told that their contestant had illegal residency. This was not only verified by the Miss Wisconsin ED and cleared through Miss America. We were Told by Miss America to disqualify her. My advice to her new queen: play by the rules and do whatever Lovena Hunter wants or you’ll find yourself without a title as quickly as you got one! | The fact that this thread keeps somehow making it back to the top of the voy board is a testament to the fact that this woman needs to be stopped. With all the terrible things happening in the Miss America organization, this is a time for us to all stand together, and make the Illinois pageant system the best that it can be. Let’s usher in a new era for our daughters that doesn’t involve adults bullying children. If people in this state have any sense they’d get rid of Lovena while the getting’s good.
