Subject: Remember, though, aid to students, whether given on a need-based basis or as an athletic scholarship, is counted toward football expenses. Remember too that state schools like Delaware have lower tuitions, even for out-of-state students. When you see that both Fordham and Delaware spend about the same on football, you have to recall that Delaware is getting more players per dollar spent than Fordham is. Fordham has to spend more per player, meaning it must spend more to land the same amount of players.

In reply to: Rambacker 's message, "This shows we could ease into A-10(or CAA/A-10) Football very easily. Looking at Richmond's budget figures compared to Fordham's, it's obvious that being able to offer full scholarships at Richmond was a major factor in Dave Clawson's decision to move on from Rose Hill." on 18:36:40 11/30/04 Tue

So the question is, should that keep us from competing at the highest level of Div. 1-AA Football and having a chance to play Army, Navy and some excellent 1-A academic schools like Duke, Wake Forest, Rice, etc. You get what you pay for. It's time to invest in Fordham's future. (NT)Rambacker22:49:31 11/30/04 Tue

Our expenses are very close to villanova as well and they compete just fine. Richmond is not that far off either. We are spending more than northeastern, w&m and jmu. And we are spending more than those schools to play "non-scholarship" football. The reason we are not moving to scholarship football is not b/c it would increase our football expenses, it is b/c it would increase our overall athletic expenses. In other words it is a Title IX issue. (NT)JóDete9309:27:17 12/01/04 Wed
