Starting June 17, 2025, you won’t be able to send or receive texts using email.
What to know:

On June 17, 2025, AT&T says your email-to-text and text-to-email service is going away. This means you won’t be able to use email to send or receive texts. Also, others who have AT&T WirelessSM won’t be able to use email to send you a text or use text to send you an email.”

Got that? Experment. On SMS, try sending PH # to Ph# (or email); or email to a PH# (or email). One should work. Millions of customers will complain, thousands will switch phone companies. I don’t think companies their size cares as thousands switch to and from them daily for whatever reasons.
… they will probably raise the rates to cover the calamity to come.
