Subject: I can scare somebody

by sneaking up behind them and yelling "BOO!" but that doesn't make me a master artist of horror scenes. It's simply appealing to a basic stimulus that will give an expected reaction. Of course, reuniting Mulder with Samantha is something that should be moving for philes across the U.S.! That's how he got started in the X-files, it's part of the mythology! So yes, I was touched that Mulder got to make peace with his sister being gone, but a lot of times after you sneak up on someone and scare her, she'll turn around and say "That was stupid. Why'd you do that?" Reuniting Mulder and Samantha is a surefire way to get an emotional reaction, and CC & Co. totally played that card. Can you disagree with that? And while I did like that scene with the kids, what about Mulder's last line- "I'm free." hack, ack, ack!

I don't think I'm nitpicking. The new mythology HAS taken a huge turn from the old, and IMO, a turn for the worst. I'm not one of those who needs to have some allusion to aliens in every ep, but does anyone else wonder what happened to the little critters? I think the alien theory was much more believable, intelligent, scary, interesting, the list goes on.

Okay, I wasn't saying that I didn't like the actor because he looked like George W. Bush. I'm just saying that for some reason, I've started to think that everyone on TV looks like him! I hope I hope I hope I hope that I'm not secretly attracted to him. Maybe this isn't the kind of stuff I should be sharing. Anyway, THAT had nothing to do with the show.

About the "I got the coldest feeling when I asked him to put out his cigarette" line. It was so lame! I half expected something like "and he was with a man who had an eyepatch and a parrot on his shoulder."

Okay, so maybe Hungry wasn't better than Closure. I don't like M&S lite, and there's tons to nitpick about in that ep (plot-wise and how monsterboy came to be and survive) but I don't want to get into it. After watching Closure last night, Hungry instantly became more believable. After watching Hungry, many still felt hungry for a good X-files episode. After watching XF last night, I don't know that anyone really felt any closure.

AND I still resent the implication that those who don't believe this crap are therefore incapable of understanding it. It just doesn't make sense.

I still didn't get to write everything I wanted to. I'll be back, count on it!
