Continuing on...

By 1964 The Rolling Stones were becoming World famous and would make tours all over the globe including America. They were in the studios making records or appearing on Television/radio programs, doing print interviews. Very little free time. The person who was in high demand within the band was none other than Brian. Mick was in demand as well but Keith was in a distant third regarding their fans. Despite the Stones (ALO/Mick/Keith) efforts to nullify Brian their was no denying his musical talent as well as his popularity with the women fans. This made Mick and Keith even more jealous of Brian. Despite being pushed in the background with their stage presentation and fewer interviews intentionally set up by ALO, Brian still led the way in terms of popularity within the Stones. I cannot repeat this enough... Brian was by far the biggest star within the Stones. Women flocked to him!! Then when it came to music he was still the most talented musician in the band (sorry Keith) so the Stones peers automatically wanted to meet and get to know Brian. For example, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Who, Kinks, and any other British/American band. They all wanted to meet Brian. Brian became very good friends with The Beatles and Dylan especially. Close enough that Keith and Mick resented the hell out of Brian. Brian would tell the others of his meetings with Dylan etc... and the other Stones would just take it as if he was showing off. If I met and became friends with The Beatles, Dylan of course I would want to share their stories with my "friends" inside the band. Instead Mick/Keith took it as Brian wanting to be a star... what BS!! Keith rags on Brian through out his book talking about Brian doing this. He completely sounds resentful and jealous. I am sure Mick felt the same way... with regards to the women their are countless stories of women wanting to be with Brian and not Mick or Keith which only compounded the situation. Could Brian help it because he was BETTER LOOKING than the rest of the band?

It was BRIAN that helped make the Stones who they are today!! 50 years later, there is no story of this. Put it this way... if there was no Brian then the Stones never would have existed. Period. 1964 through 1966 Brian's looks/musical talent paved the way for the Stones to make them as popular as the Beatles or anyone else who was battling for the number 1 spot in the world.

Another area where Mick and Keith resented Brian was his musical abilities. Brian taught Keith all kinds of tricks with the guitar (regarding tuning etc...) and taught Mick how to play harp (bend the notes etc...) but where is the recognition for this? Mick claims it was another Blues musician (Cyril Davies?) who taught him. Bull sh** again, Mick. Keith claims (for once) that Brian was always trying to help Mick with the harp. Again, any gratitude? God forbid Brian did ANYTHING to help out the Stones advance in their careers. Again, resentment and eventually getting the boot out of the band was the thanks Brian received. Not to mention being shoved aside while still being in the band. ALO would make it that Brian would receive fewer interviews, heard LESS on records (lowering his amp during recordings) no back up singing, not being allowed to bring in his own songs (Mick/Keith). Is it any wonder that Stu called the threesome a UNHOLY TRIO?

One would think all of this would break Brian and make him want to leave. But it's hard to leave when you are so popular and you have all the money and power in the world. The best of everything is at your finger tips. Even this was used against Brian when hearing Mick/Keith and Charlie tell their side of the story. This and the WORST despicable act made by a fellow friend/band member could ever make coming up soon.

George
