"The Dennis Miller Show"

I always like poking fun at former cast members. You don't need to use Carvey, Jimmy Fallon did a decent Dennis Miller impression a few years ago for a Monday Night Football sketch. You seem to have the Miller-isms down cold, its been done before, but you bring it back very well. No one's read "Catcher in the Rye"? Really? Their loss I guess. The Pynchon comeback was great. Very clever (probably over the head of some, and I've never read Pynchon, but I still get the joke - great!) "nom-de-fag" very clever (probably have to change that to "nom-de-fruit" in this Michael Powell FCC!) Again, great job getting the Millerisms ("bopparinos"). Nice barb at SNL. I'm very impressed with the level of writing of this sketch. Well thought out, good sense of timing, well-developed, good sense of character, and most importantly - funny! Best sketch I've read thus far.

"Shopping with Baby"

Hmmmm..I keep waiting and waiting for a big punchline but it fails to deliver. Stock boy says "What was that?" but what is he reacting to? Okay, so the mom is a horrible mom and yells at her baby. What's funny about that? "dark-skinned ape" is pretty damn offensive. "your womb smells" is pretty sick. Just inane yelling without any purpose or reason for us to laugh. If I want to see people yelling at each other with offensive comments, I'll watch Springer. This was just pointless.

"Viagra"

The pun doesn't make sense. It takes balls to vote for Kerry, but Viagra deals with erections, not balls, so it doesn't really make sense. Also, why does it take balls to vote for Kerry? I could understand if he was like 25 points behind Bush, but they are running neck-and-neck. I like the premise of parodying those viagra commercials (Miller Lite did a much better parody of this) so nice start, just make it work better.

"News at Noon from the Moon"

Hey! A J.P. sketch! I can always count on him for irreverance. Again, this reminds me of old SNL sketches that had bizarre settings. In Clare's first report, you need a punchline of some sort. There just wasn't anything funny about it, unless the "breathing easy" pun was supposed to be the punchline, in which case it falls flat. For bizarre sketches like this, I think you need something strong right away, or the audience is just sitting there thinking, "what the hell?" Bob Cosmo's report was a bit funnier. Its kinda funny that they even have a weather report considering they don't have much of an atmosphere (and no one will go outside). I don't understand what is funny about Bob choking? Essentially this just seems like you took a news report and put it on the moon...I was expecting some sort of joke, or bizarre happening, but this was just kinda boring, with no real punchlines. Kudos for being creative with the setting and thinking outside the box, but the jokes just fell flat.

"Game Show News Network"

Back to back news sketches? I love the intro "Want to know what's going on in the world, but don't like to read? Want to be 75 percent entertained and 25 percent informed?" Interesting premise. You should have showed Blix unable to find any WMDs. Or maybe have Bush interrupt him while he's looking and tell him his time is up and he's sending in his troops to look for them. Extend the scene because its a funny premise. "I am still not Deep throat" is very funny - it never occurred to me that Ben Stein COULD be Deep Throat - hilarious! Colin Powell's assessment is very funny. Snoop's comments would garner some cheap applause. Again, extend the scene. Have the host give Condi the Presidential Daily Briefing. "Oh, its just a historical document." And of course, Snoop can say its a bong again for many laughs. Trbek returning to pay off gambling debts is very funny. Trump at the end was kinda lame...the "You're fired" thing has been done to death. Overall, excellent sketch...since its so good, I'd like to see the scenes extended and developed, you have some good stuff there so give us more! Best sketch of the week.

"Road to the White House"

I don't know if you've ever seen Ralph Nader speak, but he often gets very animated despite his monotone voice. Besides, there is a candidate much more monotone than him (and his name rhymes with Berry). Ugh, a rappin' politician sketch? Fo shizzle? This goes right up there with rappin' grannies in terms of lameness.

I rank the sketches accordingly:

1. "Game Show News Network"
2. "The Dennis Miller Show"
3. "A Message from the President"
4. "Fanfiction Theater"
5. "Monologue"
6. "News at Noon from the Moon"
7. "Cheerios"
8. "Underdogg"
9. "Viagra"
10."Negative Connotations"
11."Weekend Update"
12."Shopping with Baby"
13."Road to the White House"
