Like Edie a senior daily ticket for all day is $3-50 and the bus leaves from 100 mtrs from my house to the station or the beach at Chelsea every 20 mnts from sunrise to midnight, I can walk to the station in less than 15 mnts anyway and there is a train every 20 mnts to the centre of Melbourne and inner city stations and some trains come every 10 mnts at peak periods and some are express not stopping all stations to the city, when back in Scotland in May although we hired a car I took a cab when I was going to have a bevvy, only cost me 4-1/2 quid and it was door to door, magic.. and trams in Melbourne are a conga line every few minutes going everywhere in the city and beyond some of them are free...you would have to be daft to take your car in to the city and pay $20 a day at least to park your car..
