especially midway last season when they got wind the show was going to be on the chopping block rather than wrap it up over a few months - and very likely rebuild the lost viewership- they went in a different direction that killed the show. Even though DJE hadn't signed on again - if they'd gone in a direction with her as CO and him off camera stationed anywhere - It could have 1. carried on forever like Norm's wife or CSI's one way phone calls to grissolm.
