    We "learned" many things on JAG over the years, I would like to think an appreciation of the military was one of them. On this, the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, "the great war" if you get a chance today thank a veteran for their service.




    Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) observed annually on November 11, honors military veterans. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.

    I posted here a couple months ago looking for a fanfic with nothing but a vague quote to go by and someone managed to find it, so I'm trying my luck again.

    I remember reading a JAG fanfic where Harm tells Mac how impressed he was with how she dealt with her father's death and references that scene in Soul Searching where they're talking in the admiral's office. He says something like "you seemed so put together" and mayyybe says it was the moment he realized he was in love with her.

    I've been taking a jog down memory lane today, and I know that after everyone left Maeve's, a lot of them came here, and then there were some new boards, but I can't seem to find any of them, and now everyone is probably on twitter or facebook, but I never knew most people's real names!     This is probably a long shot but it's been bothering me for a while now.

    I have this vivid memory of a JAG fanfic where Harm barges into Mac's office without knocking and she says something like "Were you raised in a barn?" And then later, she walks into Harm's office without knocking while he's talking to someone, and she apologizes saying "Apparently I was raised in the same barn as the Commander."

    I also think that the fanfic was from some third person's POV but I have no idea what the plot was.

    If this rings a bell for anyone please let me know.

    It's been a very long time. I don't really check in too often but it's so nice that the board is still here. And that post that jenks posted back in August... Wow, so many old friends there! It really brings back great memories. I can remember having a very high pressure job and getting up at 5am just to read and laugh at the HB and Maeves before tackling the day ahead.

    Cece and I were talking a few days ago and one of us said something about 'not making a promise you can't keep.' We decided it was from JAG and we started talking about it all over again.

    Somewhere ages ago I found a story where Harm had possibly been to the Wall and Mac was around, I think, and he was working through being upset because his father hadn't tried to leave Russia after escaping, or even tried contacting them. It was only short, I'm fairly sure, 2000 words maybe, and/or two shortish chapters.

  • It seems that Photobucket ( the place I have all my photos stored) has changed their terms of use. I do not have a desire to pay for the storage so I can use third party hosting so I will not longer be able to post photos. You know what they say, nothing is free. It was nice while it lasted.     I'm laughing out loud here. Not long ago Usmgrad mentioned that I always use a JAG reference in each of my books.

    I've been rereading the series before starting the next one. I'd forgotten what USM had said until I saw the Lobster Oven Mitts in Declan. Forgot again until a few minutes ago.

    Opening scene in Ethan and doctor tells him the other pilot - his buddy Hammer - is patched up and back in the field. I couldn't stop laughing. I swear I don't even realize I'm doing this stuff when I'm writing !

    You can take the girl out of JAG but you can't take JAG out of the girl !

    I didn't catch the news report properly; I'd just been watching something else and only 'tuned in' about partway through, so I looked up the internet and found the information. (First link.) Turns out there's been some fairly havey-cavey business between some US sailors and former Oz sailors and our sailors might be coming your way for US court-martial. Where's Harm, when you need him?? He'd give those Ozzies their come-uppance, as well as your own, not because he dislikes all Aussies, just certain ones, with good reason! (_Please_ always use a 'z' sound in the middle, regardless of whether it's spelled 'Aussie' or 'Ozzie' - John M. Jackson, are you listening???)

    While I was searching, I came across another article (second link), which was also about an Australian sailor who'd been a bad boy, and it reads like a comedy. Take a look - I think you'll be amused by the Marine General's comments on him.

    The first link is from one of our major newspapers and the second is from our government sponsored media channel - both safe.

    (P.S. - web addresses that have the .au are usually pretty safe - in Australia, we are unable to get a web address with our own country ending unless we supply our Australian Business Number, said numbers are only handed out by the Australian Government. You'd be a fool to get a .au web address and put viruses, etc. on there because the Federal Police would have no trouble tracking you down.)
