You know, the only thing I can say with relative certainty about this weekend in a season of incredible uncertainty, is this:
There is no way in hades that all four top seeds advance.
In other words, one or more of the four home teams is going to be upset, I gare-ron-tee it.
And of these four suspects, Tampa Bay seems the most vulnerable.
1) Terrible history in Playoffs
2) Brad Johnson is rusty, and without him, Tampa has been abysmal offensively
3) Tampa's running game is piss-poor. Gruden, more than anything else, wants a running game.
4) 49'ers might be beat up, but they are young, and they are most certainly not rusty, and are looking to prove something
5) The 49'er rushing attack up the middle actually seems to favor the 49'ers with 'Booger' out of the lineup. If Newberry and Stone can get push inside, Barlow could have a big day.
6) The Tampa offensive line is horrible. If the 49'ers can get good pressure on Brad Johnson, he could easily bow out before 4 Q's of football.
7) Score 21 points, and run the ball, and you're going to beat Tampa.
8) The 49'ers have won 17 out of 18 playoff games when winning the turnover margin. The 49'ers lead the NFL in turnover percentage this season, and if they take care of the ball, I can almost guarantee they win the turnover battle, because Johnson is sure to throw a couple of rusty balls that are intercept-able.
It could easily come down to ST's.
(oh geez)
At any rate, Tampa Bay is VERY vulnerable.
This is a VERY winnable game for Mooch and the 49'ers.
But all I know is that all four homes teams will NOT win. SOMEBODY is going to fall. I'd be willing to bet the house on that one.
SOMEBODY is going to fall, and it might as well be Tampa Bay!
Go 9'ers!
