Ninernut: My vcr did indeed come through for me and I just watched the entire game from start to finish! The only downer was the terrible crew that announced the game, they didn't have a clue all day long. I hope they assign someone else to announce next weeks game.

Allen: 1st,The refs did indeed blow it on the last play by not calling pass interference. If they had called it then it would have been offsetting penalties and a rekick. Then your snapper or kicker would have had another chance to blow it.Same outcome!!!
2nd,As I just reported to Ninernut I just watched the game on tape from beginning to end.And like I said in an earlier post from yesterday there are always numerous plays in a game where the refs don't make a call that they should have made. Let me report my findings from this playoff game.

1-During the play where the Giants scored their 1st TD one of your O linemen swung his forearm at Andre Carter's head and practically knocked it off and stopped him in his tracks during his pass rush.A blow to the head is a penalty but it was NOT CALLED . the penalty would have forced the Giants to kick a FG instead of scoring the TD.IF the snap would have been good and IF the kicker didn't shank it then that would have been 4 points that your team would never have scored IF they missed that FG like the two others that would have been 7 less points for your team all because the refs DIDN'T THROW THE FLAG.

2-21 seconds before halftime the Giants completed a 35 yard pass that 2 plays later led to a Giants TD. On that 35 yard play one of your O linemen was holding Andre Carter's facemask as he rushed the QB, for all to see. But the refs DIDN'T THROW A FLAG and 2 plays later your team scored a TD. With a holding or facemask call on that play there is NO WAY the Giants score any points before the half,as a matter of fact they probably kneel down and go into the half at that point.

3-30 seconds to go in the game, the player on the left end of the Giants O line moved before the snap and guess what,NO FLAG! That's another 5 yards your team should have had to overcome to get into FG range(whatever that range is for your lame FG unit)(probably extra point range and still that's no sure thing for the Giants this year ).And don't forget that your team would have been 12-15 points behind at this point if the refs had not blown all these calls I have mentioned so a FG would not do your team any good anyway!!!

4-On the same play the refs missed that motion call on your O lineman, with 30 seconds to go in the game and the Niners leading our CB,Plummer intercepted the ball to ice the game and when he landed on the ground your WR knocked the ball out of his hands and one ref called it an interception and another 2 refs said incomplete pass.Talk about a turning point in the game!!! But of course the 2 refs decided to overrule the 1 who said it was an interception and give the ball back to the Giants? On such a crucial play you just know that the refs upstairs will of course call for the replay so they can be very sure that they are not unfairly giving the ball and perhaps the ballgame to the Giants.(with under 2 minutes to go the coach cannot call for a replay).Guess what,THE REFS DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT A REPLAY?????????? I looked at it many many times and I am still not completely sure if he intercepted it or not but my point is that with the game on the line(just like the last play of the game when the refs DIDN'T CALL PASS INTERFERENCE) THE REFS DIDN'T MAKE THE CALL for instant replay that could have ended the game!!!

So you see Allen, just like in most NFL games, the refs don't call a number of penalties they should call and they often call things as penalties that are not(like pass interference in many cases). That's life and because of replay we don't have to live with it quite as often as in the past but sometimes we just have to bite our lips and live with inept refs.
Just refering to that one blown call on the last play is very unfair because as I have shown in this post,if all the calls were called properly by the refs all day long then your team would have lost by a much larger score than they DID LOSE by !!!!!(NO doubt about that!) TIM
