PassionPlace Production Team Member
Internship Category: special events planning, fundraising, clerical
Paid or unpaid: Paid (with work-share via sponsoring school)
Description: Internships have provided incredibly valuable opportunities for
students, particularly in the arts, and we're more than happy and willing to
work with one of your students as a reliable and passionate intern!
We're placing an open call to all the colleges & universities for
the internships we have available. There's a wide range of opportunity as an
intern, ranging from administrative duties (budgeting, grant writing and
general fundraising, promotions/publicity, coordinating, etc...) to artistic
internships.
We are also working on a 5 year plan to secure a permanent location. This
permanent location would include acquiring land and erecting salvaged
timberframe structures to house our performances spaces, artist residency
housing, studios for music recording, film studios, dance/rehearsal spaces,
art gallery, administrative building, children's daycare/workshop space,
artist resource center, a tropical greenhouse w/intimate water gardens &
performance space [landscapers are some of the finest artists out there as
well!], health studio for yoga, pilates, massage, etc. w/juice bar, etc...
all towards a PassionPlace Arts Colony.
We intend to offer opportunities to all forms of artists in all mediums, be
they dancers, spoken word performers, fine artists, film artists, musicians,
stage performers, writers, technicians (set designers, lighting designers,
stage managers, etc...)
This includes budding artists - saving children through the arts is an
integral part of our mission statement, enabling them to work with adult
artists, peer artists and encouraging and fostering their unique identity as
an artist/valuable human being.
We uphold a non-separatist philosophy, aiming to unify people of ALL
backgrounds, and provide a resource for artists and art appreciators to
share unique and positive experiences.
Our vision is to get Other's Vision out to the world. May their identity be
recognized, explored & celebrated.
Our upcoming production, which is slated for a tri-city tour in May/June,
features Aqiyl Thomas' published spoken word poetry book entitled 1975:THE
UNDERGROUND EPIC, which we will produce live onstage, integrating theatre,
spoken word, live music, live dance, film imagery, full set design, etc.
We have a strong dedication to spoken word, in both supporting the efforts
of spoken word artists with a positive message (of all ages) as well as
exposing this wonderful art form
Our company started out as a not-for-profit theatre company in 1992 and has
evolved into a multi-media production company aimed towards integrating all
art forms in a collaborative effort for live performances. Although live
performance is our main drive, we sponsor productions for film, TV, recorded
music, etc, as we recognize the value of and need to bring art in ways other
than strictly live performance.
The collaborative effort on behalf of the varied art forms allows a
compelling experience to all involved, and to all witnessing the product as
an audience member/viewer.
One thing we all share in common is our PASSION - we all strive to bring
forth the art in a positive, efficient and cohesive fashion. The people
involved have a wide range of interests, skills and curiosities. We
encourage egos to be left behind and for members to embrace the concept that
creativity and dreams CAN be manifested.
Should one of your students be coming out for a 3-6 month stay, we'd need to
discuss which area would be most beneficial for the student and for the
company for a 3-6 month term.
We'd be interested in interviewing any potential interns you have in mind as soon as you're ready.
Please advise what information you need to start the process. In any case,
I'm sure something wonderful can be worked out between our company and your
student internship organization!
If you'd like to discuss our company further, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for your interest in PassionPlace and I hope to hear back from you
soon! Meanwhile, the best of luck in your search for the right atmosphere,
and whichever way your school chooses to go, please remember that we are
here.
