• I guess it's necessary if you believe that your dancer is not good enough to place well on his/her own. Or you believe that the adjudicators will be dishonest and take note or your dancer and give them more points because of past wins or who they dance for, rather than their dancing on the day. • LOL this topic comes up at every States & Nationals. Do you seriously think the adjudicators scroll through every schools social media account to help them judge? My daughter does throwbacks of last year's States as she gets very excited at this time of the year and I'm guessing all schools do as well. If I owned a school and had a number of State/National/World Champions I would be using them at every opportunity to promote my dance school, not to promote any kind of dishonesty. • Every year this topic arises and the same people defend it under the guise of 'my kids get excited, the school wants to update families' etc. The reality is, the saturation of social media with promotional posts is an attempt to influence judging. What other purpose is there to posting 5 plus 'throwbacks' of a tiny competition a dancer won, all conveniently in the week before states. It wreaks of desperation. Importantly, when states are judged by domestic adjudicators who are active on social media, privately or via schools pages, there is a huge ability to influence their decisions. If someone works hard, improves their dancing, and their results reflect this improvement (i.e. move up the ranks), then I would safely say the judging ISN'T rigged.
