Don't know about anyone else that post on this board, but to me it is not too hard to figure which contestant's group is continuing to bring up talent. If you are that upset that your contestant didn't win because "you" think her talent is so so wonderful, then advise her not to come back. Kelly is our new Miss SC whether you or anyone else agree. Continuing to harp on all the reasons that you and a small group feel that she should not have won does not change and will not change the outcome. I realize everyone has an opinion and this is an open forum to voice your opinion. But enough is enough. A new pageant year has started and this board needs to use to list the new winners and wish them luck. If you so want to know why Kelly won then give the office a call and ask them why she won. You just might be surprised. Plus don't forget - The ranking system is what is used after top 5 is picked. Kelly could have been number 5 in the top 5 after scores were added. Then once 5 judges start ranking anyone can come out on top. Each judge could have had a different winner then had Kelly as their 1st runner, etc. Who is to say if the pageant had been decided on accumulated points of the top 5 that Kelly would have won. We will never know because thanks to Miss America we chose our state and national queens during top 5 the same way Miss USA does. Maybe it is time to try and get Miss America to go back to the good old way. You have the highest points you win the pageant. Just my opinion. Have a blessed day.

I get really upset when people start talking about talent. Are we talking training, or God given talent, or maybe even just a sincere interest in a performance with average to above average ability pushed by grace and poise, and sincere effort, and a little coaching.
Training is accomplished by years of Moms and Dads shelling out money for lessons. lots of girls have training very few have that talent that shows through everything they have been taught so you see "them" in their performance. God given talent comes when you see someone with absolutely no training perform in any area as if they had written the book. Then there is the sincere interest area, sometimes this performance is the one that will tell you about the person, their drive, their determination, their life.
Sometimes this is the girl that shows the talent of not what she is performing, but the talent of grace in excepting that she does not excel in vocal, dance, or some other area, but is willing to show you her interest, her want to, her drive to keep striving.
So when you degrade someone for what you call bad or no talent, you are telling me that all you think Miss America is, is a talent show. Sometimes I think girls have won simply because of their "Talent", as for me, give me a girl that is average to above average in her ability to perform and the grace and poise to overlook so many rude comments.
I think Kelly was as deserving of the crown as any of the other girls that made it to that final five.
There are many girls in this pageant every year that are beautiful and could carry the title of Miss South Carolina. But I am proud of the fact that occasionally a girl wins that is not the average pageant beauty. She is the one that makes you look at her twice. The one that when you take that second look you see the determination, the ability, the grace, the poise, the beauty, the unique difference from the average "tap dancing" Miss So and So.

They worked hard and did a great job helping give the audience a great show! However, some of you had asked me about dance classes, etc. Right now the studio where I work is offering a dance camp next week, August1-3,(Monday -Wednesday) from 9am-12pm. These dance classes will offer a variety of styles such as Musical Theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and technique. The cost is only $145 and is for ages 13 and up. Please let me know if you are interested. I was able to see some good dancers at the pageant and would be thrilled to have any of you come and take classes. There will be three different teachers, including myself. I am also working on a "pageant packet" a camp that enables classes to help contestants get in shape and prepare for the pageant. I will have more details on this in a couple weeks! Hope to hear from you soon. You may call or email me to book your spot. 864-979-4989 / mbays79@aol.com
XOXO, Michelle

Hi Ladies,

If you are the Mom of a Palmetto Princess please take time to visit my voy board and leave some advice for future Princess moms while the experience is fresh in your mind. I really enjoyed being a part of the pageant this year and my daughter did too. I am journaling some thoughts about the Princess Journey which may be helpful to moms who are new to this and have no idea what it is all about. I am thankful to Karen Sligh for guiding me through the process this year. This is a whole new world to moms who are new to Miss SC. During pageant week I met many moms who, like me, felt lost during the year and were unprepared for what pageant week would be like. I hope this board will be helpful to the moms of girls who will return as princesses next year and to the moms of girls who have never been a princess.

If you are an LED or a queen, please refer your Princess' moms to the board.

I insist on there being no bashing, cursing, or belittling of children on the board. Seriously, this is a mom to mom ADVICE board where we get ideas to make the experience easier the next time, NOT a Bashing site. I put my name to it instead of remaining anonymous, so I don't want to say anything I cannot defend publically.

Now that we are entering a new year lets discuss the LEDS that work the hardest for their girls. The good verses the bad. My daughters want to enter and I am looking for the best LEDS to work with

Hey gang, I thought you'd be interested to see this. We're really proud of this production. The show is high energy and a modern Rock theme. Cast, staging, music and lighting as AMAZING!!. Ya gotta see this and I guarantee it's a production like you've never seen!!! I already webcast the 3 nights of prelims and have had around 1000 viewers each night. This is one show I recommend that you do not miss.

It all starts at 9 PM ET TONIGHT - Saturday

Thanks so much and enjoy - jeff

Subject: Quite interesting that there is a post on the national boards about how the selection of Miss state is changing. Seems to be nationwide. Contestants don't really know what judges and the org. are looking for these days.
