People still can't believe that on and talent portion was not 50% for prelims and 35% for finals. And if the scoring system was the same, many MAY can accept the outcome. Based upon their talent, they would of had to receive a perfect score from ALL judges in those two areas and every well rounded candidates that performed on stage, with a strong talent would of had to score very low in those two to justify what you're saying.

When they say “talent is 50%” some people stop listening and paying attention to what’s really going on. I wish MAO would STOP with the percentages, because if you watched Miss America in September, it was obvious that talent was not a primary factor. It can be used as a differentiator, but as we can see, not always. Some girls and their families have put THOUSANDs of dollars into a talent, going as far as to get college degrees in the field, only to be beaten by a girl with a last minute dredged up talent. They don’t get it because that’s their perspective. They feel cheated, but that’s on them. MAO 2.0 is about social change. Body positivity. The underdog changing the world. The woman set out to cure cancer. The girl aspiring to be president. If you are pretty, or blonde, or naturally thin, welcome to the new handicap. You BETTER have a plan to save the world, beat the odds, raise money for the children, etc. or you.won’t.win. And Don’t think because you just showed up with a great talent, or natural hair, or you’re winning the sympathy vote that THAT is all you need. You better be the “new” complete package, it’s NOT a pageant anymore and you either approach it traditionally and get frustrated, or get a new plan and become competitive.

It’s Ok to have thoughts and ask questions. That’s what being empowered means. No one is bashing this girl’s intelligence (though I would question it if she actually thought it was a good idea to sing as her talent) or her commitment to her STEM platform. But she can’t sing. She is tone deaf, and somewhere along the line her mom, friends, LED failed her. She needed to be told that she can’t sing. She should pick something else for talent. There is NO excuse for what happened last night. NONE. I truly feel sorry for the young woman, but my heart hurts for the other contestants who were lied to. The scores don’t matter ladies. Sadly they were off by one person both nights. Ironic if you ask me. The dream team for Miss SC/ Teen would have been Morgan Romano and Julia Herrin. These two ladies would have excelled at Miss America/ MAOT and done our state proud. Sad to say for the first time in a long time I will not be looking forward to watching Miss America out of embarrassment for our state. Miss Clemson is well spoken, but somebody needs to teach her how to dance before Miss America because singing isn’t going to get her far. Her title is a representation of South Carolina and the judges should be ashamed.

When they were directors of Hilton Head, they posted on their facebook page if you didn't believe in certain things, don't bother entering their pageant.
