When I see a contestant competing in the Miss South Carolina Pageant, I feel she has already won. I have watched young women grow into themselves, discover who they are and open their minds to a world of possibilities that never thought existed. Winning the Miss South Carolina title is just icing on the cake.

To those who are complaining, ask yourself what are you in this for? If it is for the girls and your contestant has become a better person from all of her hard work, community service and training, congratulations, you won! You did your job. If you are doing this for self-gratification, then prepare yourself for a lot of disappointments because only one of many deserving girls will win the title each year.
