The Miss America Board of Directors is pleased to announce the unanimous election of two new board members. Jessie Bennett, formerly the Executive Director of the Miss Arkansas Competition, and Ashley Byrd, formerly the Executive Director of the Miss South Carolina Competition, who were put forward by their fellow state Executive Directors to represent the states at this critical phase of our restructuring. They will lend valuable insight and direction for the future of the program. Both willingly resigned their positions as Executive Directors so as to avoid any conflicts. Subsequent to serving on the board, they can be considered for reappointment as Executive Directors in their states. We welcome their leadership and look forward to working together in shaping Miss America in 2018 and beyond.

[> Subject: Is the board taking recommendation/nominations for the ED position? If so, what is the process? Also, since the position Ashley has a term limit and he could be reappointed to ED post his service, would the new ED be a limited term position too?

Ashley will still advise every move of the state organization, but someone else's signature will be on checks and contracts. This will not be a large change for us on the state level.
