In BC, it's 19. In some provinces, it's 18 (Quebec being one).

That seems fair enough to me. Of course, the kids all drink and smoke and smoke up under 19 now anyway. But the state should allow parents to have some clout behind their groundings.

Oh, and "all" is an exaggeration too--I tried pot and hash a couple of times as a minor, but certainly most of my friends weren't regular pot users and probalby only half drank and smoked. But anyone who WANTED to sure could without the law getting in the way. There wasn't a parent in town who didn't know where the party spots were.
