Hi Alex,
I took the plunge and bought my 240 last July. Previous owner kept her keel down on an exposed Thames mooring at TYC at Grays in Essex. She too had a replacement keelbox in St steel ( believed from the guy in Norfolk.)

My keel roller underneath at front of keel slot is jammed and has a wear depression, fortunately not too bad as yet. There is a corresponding and deeper wear groove in the front face of the keel. Its clear that these two conditions are related. I suspect that movement of the keel relative to the hull when on a mooring contributes.

I have a 1/2 tide mud mooring now so hopefully keel more stable in up position. My boat has a keel clamp bolt with large 4in plastic 'nut' fitted low down on the port side of the keel housing to give a friction lock on the side of the keel (looks to be relatively recent).

If you give details of which area you are in no doubt a local forum member will be happy to advise/visit boat with you.
On question of sails unless you are going to race regularly and must have the latest its probably more useful to find a local sailmaker - most will do a better priced package with the furling gear inclusive ( mine is an old Rotostay masquerading as 'Bulldog' - works fine). I found long ago when racing that the gain from new (better?) sails is quickly dissipated by the 'nut' at the helm!!!

Hope it works out.
Paul
