Frankly I would say that anybody who presents an offer of help in such a crass way is hardly likely to be of any assistance whatsoever but that's up to you lot.

I've had probably a dozen offers since I started this thing off about 7/8 years ago, none put so badly, but none of them came to anything.

Basically a lot of people with the technical know how lack the tenacity to maintain an interest long enough even to get something started let alone to run it.

Add to that the fact that a lot of IT people seem to change jobs frequently and you have an additional instability for anyone doing it through their work.

I should say that I'm not resistant to change, I only started this because there wasn't one already and I've done it using commercial products that are available.

I would add a word of caution though, what is needed is functionality, not a load of whizz bang, most websites are merely a vehicle for their designers to show how clever they are and nothing to do with achieving the aims of the client.

This forum has served well and before you trash it just make sure that you are getting what you want.

I don't own a trapper anymore so this might be a very good time to make changes, just make sure you don't throw thew baby out with the bathwater.

To me, the changes required are not so much with the forum, though I accept that there are better formats, but with the website.

What I wanted was the facility for people to put up their own pictures and articles, so that the website itself became a livlier place, being constantly updated. I think that such a system would bring a huge benefit to the owners generating much more interest. Obviously some safeguards need to be built in but people could apply to join online for this facility and agree to the rules, they could then have the right removed if they placed inappropriate material or photographs.

Anders has introduced this on his own site and that is linked to the main site but it needs to be done as part of the website in my mind so that it gets much more use, even if that only means bring anders pages into the website proper by a better linking system.

Anyway, I'll be interested to see the responses from a few other posters to this forum, and if you are all happy we can pass it over to somebody else, hopefully somebody with a degree of tact and tenacity, as a lack of either will soon finish the site off.
